'To the Extreme' response.

I am currently cutting, here's my diet if anyone wants to know or has any questions on stats: FitDay Free Calorie Counter and Diet Journal:*Public Journal Recently, my parents have been getting on me, saying that I take this diet thing "to the extreme". They say I do not hit all the food groups on the pyramid, which is 'unhealthy'. I do not eat bread and red meat so they think that I am a crazy diet guy.

How does one respond to this talk? I'm not sure how to cover my butt. Obviously, I need to work on getting more vegetables in my diet, but my health has been great to say the least. Any suggestions?

If they have a problem with you not eating bread then it seems there's little you can do! haha. Get more veggies and keep your mouth shut and prove your cause through actions. Either that or tell 'em to screw off!

They think im too obsessed with losing weight, and they think that 153 pounds is way too thin. If I go over that they think I'm going over the edge.

How low do you figure you need to cut to see the definition you're shooting for?

That is kinda small for a guy. You sure you don't want to just recomp for a bit?

155 is a very athletic weight

when i was 165+- (im a little taller) i was sprinting like a jack rabbit, doing pullups like a monkey and jumping 10 feet high

or so it seemed

there is nothing like being lightweight
but then

there is nothing like having the muscle to perform well

155 at your height would be a very athletic weight
plenty of muscle
still light enough for some explosive movements

140's and i think youd look a little frail

I think you are exactly right. As well as Built. I need to Recomp. but try and cut up a bit more, which takes some weight loss. Maybe higher 140's at the most? I still have some body fat around my stomach area and obviously since one cannot spot reduce body fat, I must lose a couple of pounds in order to get rid of it.

I will go with Built's recomp. plan, whatever it takes.

cut down to about 150 and youll be around 10%

then try to put on some real lean mass

youd be suprised how impressive the diference could be from

153 12%
and 155 sub10%

see i dont play sports , i used to play baseball way way back lol but only thing i compete in now is powerlifting and thats very rare and when i get bored of just training for size gives another goal to focus on , so i am trying to bulk to 160/165 and then cut after that hopefully hitting 155 at about 8-9% bf then doing it all over again etc etc etc

I'm currently not playing any sports, just straight ol' caloric deficit in combination with lifting and HIIT training and SS cardio.

I will try that, I have a long time to do it, but I am going to try going a different route first along with one of my great mentors. She's been great and has given me every bit of good advice one could possibly ask for. If it wasn't for her, I'd be lost for sure.

in order to gain weight in any form you MUST run above maint.

the key is to limit the excess calories
and to get them from good sources

i would say when i have added lean muscle i was consuming all of my additional calories in lean protein

and i only ran 2 or 3 hundred above maint.

i was consuming all whole grains, no sugars, and lean meats

my pre workout was oats and whey, my post workout was oats and whey
i was running 2 times a week
and lifting 4 times a week

alot of people would say i was overtraining...
but moving up in weight and adding no fat
without the use of any substances, speaks for itself

in theory if you could gain muscle without ANY change in body fat at all, your body fat % would decrease... i do not agree with the idea that no matter what you put on fat on a bulk, no mater what you lose muscle on a cut.

extreme diets cause extremities yes
but carefull diet and hard work can cause incredible things
