Fasting question

I am getting very very fast results following my current plan, but ignoring the whole "if it ain't broke" thing, I am thinking about throwing in 1-2 fasting days per week to speed things up a bit.

Will this hinder me since I am running a deficit anyway?

Do I still take my fish oil/creatine on this day, or nothing but water for 24 hours?

Is this a decent idea, or borderline window-licker since I am getting fast results?

I hear that plain water fasting is only recommended with complete bed rest.
I did Master cleanse a couple times for 10 days.
Maybe you could do MC for 2 days every week?Lemonade gives you energy and vitamins/minerals to go about your day so it won't be as hard. And you'll be getting around 600 kcals a day.

As far as I know, IF is not meant to be done with an already hypocaloric diet. The 2 days of fasting, in and of themselves, provide a nice caloric deficit and you are meant to eat to the point of comfort (about maintenance, but you do this instinctually of course) the rest of the week.

I'd think running a deficit, with good results and introducing 2 fasting days will spell trouble for your LBM. Just have the patience, you stated your results are good so keep doing what you're doing. You didn't gain the weight over night (even though it might seem like it...time flies when you're having fun) and you won't drop it over night either.

Are you going to be taking question submissions at all or no?

I just have a hard time grasping IF I guess. If he is only interested in the overall deficit, then how is losing 4K calories or so per week any different than cutting like 750 calories per day from maintenance?

His ideas about chronically elevated insulin from small meals are interesting, but it seems to me that if you eat a diet consisting primarily of protein/fat with timed carbs (if any) then you can basically avoid those problems.

He also talks about how it's not as catabolic as it seems, but it would seem to me that in the absolute absence of protein that your body would have no choice BUT to break down muscle to get the aminos for gluconeogenesis until you finally hit ketosis.

I'll grill him on a bunch of questions and I will keep your ideas in mind (as well as the ideas of many others). Some of the answers to your questions are in the research he cites though and, as we typically are searching for as humans, we want things to be so "black and white", when they really aren't. Which is what the basis of the podcast is about. We will try and get to the bottom of some of this stuff.

Very Cool looking forward to it.

Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.
