What Is The Best Type Of Cardio To Burn Fat Faster?
What Is The Best Type Of Cardio To Burn Fat Faster? Written by: Flavia_DelMonte
The simple answer to this question can boil down to a number of complicated factors, but let's shoot straight, it really boils down to one question: Which type do you want to do? Unless you're stepping on stage or getting ready for a photo shoot in a few weeks, then one of the key factors in determining your cardio type should be what you enjoy doing.
My husband hates doing cardio so would say, "I don't have any kind of cardio I enjoy doing." However, an easy solution for him is to listen to one of his motivational CD's on his iPod to mask the boredom. It's funny because he'll tell me, "I didn't want to stop my cardio today until I finished my audio!"
Before we dive into the science, keep in mind the "best" type of cardio is the type you'll actually do. This is a motto I apply to my training and even nutrition for that matter. It's often better to stick to what's "enjoyable" rather than what's "ideal" for long-term results.
Actually, it has been proven that this is one of the worst. The body has a natural biological need to insulate bodyheat in water with bodyfat, which is why it resists burning it in water.

Altho a plus for swimming is that it is wonderfully low impact.
As mentioned in the article - the best cardio is the one you will do consistently. I personally prefer steady state, walking cardio - I've done it primarily as part of a number of keto diet-based contest prep. Keto gives you energy but no burst energy - it is very hard to do any sort of cardio or training that requires burst or sprint energy. The end result is that I've not been conditioned for sprint cardio, and from my years of training I've developed plenty of joint tweaks, e.g, knees, that make sprint cardio nearly impossible for me. Swimming would be a great option for someone like me.
I also recall when I was in college I used to swim 30 laps / day (~an hour) - honestly - it was mostly to manage stress from my heavy class load, but it worked wonderfully for bodyfat - because I was consistent w/ it.

If you stay below maintainence calories you'll burn fat in or out of water.
