    Workout shoes?

What do you ladies wear to work out in?

The reason I ask is that I seem to have become a minimalist fanatic. I have one pair of Asics I can stand, otherwise I'm in Vibram FiveFingers. I walk and run in them (and by "run" I mean an average walk for anyone over 5'6).

I do worry little that I might drop weights on my feet. ... not that the Asics would protect me that much more.

I'm a Nike guy. Which you could not give a rats ass about.

My wife is a massive fan of New Balance. If you go to one of the New Balance stores (not a lady's footlocker or etc) they will measure you foot for an exact fit. They also have different heights of arch support in their shoes. She has one arch that is quite a bit higher than the other so she gets the arch support for only 1 shoe. It's is the only place I know that gets real close to a custom fit gym shoe. Not cheap (average @ $200) but worth the $$$$ if she's comfortable.

Me?? I lift barefoot, every single workout and I have my clients lift barefoot too...

I used to wear my Chucks...One day they were upstairs and I was in the Dungeon and the steps were NOT on my "friendly" list that day, so I said SCREW IT and did my workout anyway...FRIGGIN LOVED IT...Done it barefoot ever since...

Cardio, running, sprint 8, everyday going out to the store, etc...Fila Skeletoes that hubby got me for my birthday...NOTHING BETTER!!! They are the knock off to Vibrams Five Finger Shoes...

I wear Keens on non leg days. Our gym gets pretty warm and I hate wet socks. Probably not the best shoes, but they are air conditioned

Check out fila's new skeletoes 2.0. They have a little more padding on the soles than the vibram. They still feel very minimalistic. I really like them on leg days and I love them for running track.

ASICS. I've been using a good insole for the last 20 yrs to help support my bunion surgery. I've got a pair of wrestling shoes I sometimes wear for leg day, but not so important anymore. Flat shoes aren't going to support my current foot corrections and I don't want a 4th bunion surgery any time soon.

I like to lift in socks, debated using shoes, but I think working the stabilizing muscles is better barefoot/socks.
Just a girl.... Looking for muscles!!

personally i just use newbalance cross trainers only because they were cheap, it doesnt matter that much - your own fitness/strength is the main determinant on how you perform

Srsly though. My girl wears a Merrill "zero drop" shoe in the gym and absolutely swears by them. I wear K-Swiss tubes, not that it applies to your question as I identify as male.

I rock Nike Free's. There are specific ones for weight training. They are super cute too. They are super flexible and comfortable and love them for weight training. They were actually recommended to me by one of my friends who does competition. There are ones for men too and I see quite a lot of them at my gym! Hope this helps

I wear chucks on leg and back day. I've been wanting to get the five fingers, but haven't bought them yet. If Skele-toes have more padding on the soles compared to five fingers, I may have to try that one out.
