    Squeezing breasts can stop cancer!

Squeezing breasts 'can stop cancer' - Title1

A little squeeze may be all that it takes to prevent malignant breast cells triggering cancer, research has shown.

Laboratory experiments showed that applying physical pressure to the cells guided them back to a normal growth pattern.

Scientists do not envisage fighting breast cancer with a new range of compression bras, but they believe the research provides clues that could lead to new treatments.

"People have known for centuries that physical force can influence our bodies," said Gautham Venugopalan, a leading member of the research team at the University of California in Berkeley, United States.

"When we lift weights our muscles get bigger. The force of gravity is essential to keeping our bones strong. Here we show that physical force can play a role in the growth - and reversion - of cancer cells."

The study involved growing malignant breast epithelial cells within a gel injected into flexible silicone chambers. This allowed the scientists to apply compression during the first stages of cell growth, effectively squashing the cells.

Over time, the squeezed malignant cells began to grow in a more normal and organised way.

Once the breast tissue structure was formed the cells stopped growing, even when the compressive force was removed. Non-compressed cells continued to display the haphazard and uncontrolled growth that leads to cancer.

"Malignant cells have not completely forgotten how to be healthy; they just need the right cues to guide them back to a healthy growth pattern," said Mr Venugopalan, a doctoral student.

The results were presented at the annual meeting of the American Society for Cell Biology in San Francisco.

I'm pretty sure there was a follow up study involving licking.
    Just saying.

Or you can always train BJJ. I always seem to have my breasts grabbed every time I roll.

I use to train bjj at Gracie Barra. Got my blue belt. Seems like nothing is off limits when you're rolling. One time a guy head butted me accidentally. I had a black eye for a week. Right when it healed I got in a fight at the beach and some guy sucker punched me and gave me another black eye. The people I work with thought I was in some underground fight club lol. I was always coming to work with bruises, broken bones, dislocated fingers, etc.

Don't you just miss it? Fingers getting caught in gi's, getting elbowed, getting knee'd, having someone junk in your face (when they're north/south), and the girls getting grabbed almost everyday it seems. I guess I did a good job getting them because everyone seems to like them, lol. I'm a purple belt from Alilance.

Of course I miss it. Just wasn't worth the toll it was taking on my body. I have two herniated disk in my back and every time we did hip tosses and throws, I could barely move the next day. I've had my arm pop several times from being too proud to tap when I got caught in arm bars and one time my middle finger dislocated. I popped it back in then started rolling again and every time I grabbed the guy's gi, it would pop back out. It was fun for sure and I miss it all the time. I've thought about going back and just doing Muay Thai since its just striking and would be easier on my back.

It sucks your school didn't have a fundamentals/intermediate class. Alliance started doing that a couple years ago so you can work technique but the rolling is easier and not so competitive. You could also just flow roll when you train so you get to work technique but you don't have to worry about injuries.

The sure fire way to see if someone's been doing BJJ for a long period is to look at their hands. You can see the calcium deposit buildups on all the knuckles and the broken/dislocated fingers.

They did have a fundamentals class but it was rare to see someone above a white belt in there. I had a few guys I would roll with where we just worked on technique. I'm a competitive person so it's hard for me to not go full throttle. This last time I injured my back I said I would only lift light weight to get in shape but that didn't last long lol.

We have white, blues, purples, and even occasionally a brown belt in the fundamentals class. Our fundamentals class isn't to beginner'ish though. We work ankle locks, knee bars, etc in it. There just is no rolling so you can really refine your technique and later roll in one of the advanced classes that day to get 3, 4, or 5 8min rolls in. You can't go 100% all the time though. You have to periodize your training (hard one day, light the next, medium the following, and repeat). That way you don't burn out and you don't overtrain and risk injury. Injury can still happen but you want to minimize the possibility. I understand being competitive to. I competed in over 20 tourneys as a blue belt (almost every month and everything from Grapplers Quest to Mundials) and I intend to compete in at least 10 more as a purple(already did No Gi Pans, Gi and No Gi Masters Worlds).

the idea of compression to aid in reversal of the "Big C" is interesting, but again...in words. thank you Sassy for an interesting topic; as all can be plagued with Cancer.
