Don't you miss being able to throw up the iron at that weight? I remember when I was at my heaviest my PR's were huge. Now they suck. Of course I don't nearly workout as much.
Strangely enough, when i came back after injury i was so annoyed at losing all the weight i busted my ass so much that my numbers are getting really close to what i was lifting back then, except at far lower bodyweight.
I do miss just being huge, though. I certainly FELT a lot stronger, even if my numbers didn't reflect that. I honestly don't think i pushed myself nearly as hard as i could have.
Oh my! All these compliments! Oh no..oh no...not again...oh boy....here come the tears!!! (anyone who get that Judas Priest reference wins a free Gazelle!)
Good to know. I've been looking for some reference pics of what certain BFs look like. I know everyone's different in how they store fat, but I wanted some guidelines. I found one site where a former BB'er who put on a lot of weight from inactivity got back into shape and documented his progress with precise BF measurements. I was shocked to see what the different BFs looked like.
I definitley high overestimated mine. I thought I was around 20, but that would bring my lean BW down to like 155! Which is total bullshit. I put on 10lbs of lean mass in my first 2 months of lifting (going from an under-nourished runner to weight lifter was a sudden shock to my muscles). I can see some striations in my quads, and my back is pretty lean. I figure I'm more likely to be 13-15%. I've seen the higher BF pics (18-20) and the guy has very little visible musclar shape (as in the curve down the back, or the shape of the quads, etc).
You must have been a monster of a deadlifter back in this pic. Then again, I recall you saying after your injury you got to bigger lifts?
I'm actually way stronger now than i was back then. I had a hell of a lot more mass but couldn't use it as efficiently at all. Was a tad shorter and about 20lbs heavier, but i've got a good few years more experience under my belt now .
Most i did on the deadlifts around then was 130kg x 6, but today i got 160kg x 3.
But yeah, bodyfat makes a hell of a lot of difference. Even 1% up or down can make a difference. You can also store fat unevenly. When i measured lower and upper body fat, my lower body came out at 25%, but my upper body was around 13%! Averaged out i guess that comes to about 15% which is right, lol.
Good to know. I've always wondered why I can see striations in my quads yet can have minor rolls if I crunch my mid-section inwards. My BF is mostly in the torso and lower chest. Although even there looks can be deceiving. If I let my stomach at rest right now it appears like my BF is drastically higher than before I was lifting (which it isn't..maybe 8% more) but then I go to grab some flab and I can't because there's all that squat/deadlift-induced torso muscle underneath! It's weird. You can see the fat, but it still is different than if there was no muscle underneath.
I have no idea what I'm getting at, lol. But, god damn! Am I looking forward to cutting in June.
