i have my 1st appt. ever with an endo in a few weeks. my general practitioner diagnosed me with type 2 diabetes (which i have under control) and low testosterone (which i think is being handled badly). anyway, aside from the basic tests they are going to run (bloodwork), are there other things i should request for them to check, or be sure they're checking (hormones, ect.) i'm a 41 yr. old male and i don't know if ever in my life i've had my estrogen level, or dhea levels, or anything like that checked. i don't know if they check stuff like that on a routine basis. since my insurance is paying for it, i want to be sure i get their moneys worth :-)

thank yall for the input.

I also have low testosterone and it is giving me ED issues. I live in Atlanta GA and I am having a hard time finding an endocrinologist. I want somebody who will do a full test a try to correct my specific problem rather than writting me a prescription for viagra or androgel and pushing me out the door.

i will be totally honest bro, the endo was a terrible experience. they seemed even less concerned with my issues than the general practitioner.
i tried another regular doctor, with the same poor results. i tried another one and finally had success. you just have to find a doctor you can be totally honest with and one you feel like has your best interest in mind.

Thanks for the replies. I would really just like to have the complete test. My urologist tested for estrogen instead of estrodial. I didn't have a cortizol test or thyroid. He only tested for testosterone - 320. Estrogen- 163. Free testosterone percent and estrogen were out of range.
I am 36 years old and not overweight. I would be willing to pay for the test , diagnose myself and order the drugs from overseas. I am fed up with incompetent doctors who don't care. I am already on Arimedex, Proviron,Daily Cialis, Levitra on demand and I have some Dostinex on order. None of wich are doing any good. The Arimdex was making me feel great for a while but then I crashed. I am trying to get my dosage right.
LH and FSH, serum test, and free test.
Type II is generally associated with insulin resistance as a precurser.
Testosteone supports blood sugars but honestly if you have issues with that then knowing now is a good thing.
Do not argue with an idiot, he will drag you down to his level and beat you with experiance.

Estradiol is a type of estrogen. There are three.
E1: Estrone, predominant in menopause.
E2: Estradiol, produced from testosterone.
E3: Estriol, which predominates during pregnancy
Estradiol is generally the only one they test, so that was more than likely the right one.

I had no idea. My Estrogen level was 163 pg/ml. Reference range 130 or less. I convinced the doctor to prescribe me anastrozol. After taking it for a while I had a lot more energy. I now work out everyday and run 3-5 miles. And this is after working a ten hour day. My testosterone level was at 320 but I know it is up because I am getting acne on my back and chest and my muscles are getting bigger and more defined faster than ever. This is great and life changing and I am grateful, but there still does not seem to be a change in the ED department. I tried taking Proviron for a week but I became irritable and I started to have joint stiffness which effected my running. Before that week I felt superhuman. Even my mood had changed. What if there was somthing else causing the high estrogen. A problem with cortizol or thyroid, (my prolactin level is normal at 6 ). This idea gives me hope of being a normal happy person who is able to have a girlfriend.
Thanks for all the help.
