    Knee Pain

Lately I have been having some knee pain when I would do squats. My form has suffered because of it. I have taken some time off from squats and I have lowered the weight but when I go back to it it is still the same. It does not bother me on other exercises such as the leg press or hack squat. What I am wondering is if i should leave squats alone entirely or should I do them every once in awhile with low weight. I don't really like to use light weight though.

Always a good idea to get it checked out, especially if more than a couple months go by and it's not considerably better

I tore my meniscus and have had knee problems for awhile, especially after doing squats. A great alternative is doing dumbell squats. Just have a dumbell in each hand and do squats like you normally would but have the dumbells hanging and touch them in front of your feet, when you stand up bring the dumbells to the side and bring your shoulders back. I actually find it works more muscles than squats. It seems like the movement is much more natural and doesn't bother the knees as much, or the back.
