Take the meds if the dr gave you any. Eat plenty of food for your body to repair itself. Tendons do not have a tremendous supply of blood which would help them repair more quickly. Six months may be what it needs to heal. There are other things you can work on. Legs for one.

But take the time to heal up properly. You'll only hurt yourself if you restart when you think you feel well enough only to pop it again or maybe worse.

You should also talk to your doctor about strengthening your elbow. My son is a baseball pitcher who tore his ucl in is elbow. I know it's a different ligament but it was replaced with a tendon. Like Zaphod said tendons don't get a big blood supply. Ask your doc about throwers ten. It's exercises that pitchers do to help strengthen the elbow and shoulder.

I actually saw this happen live once at a power lifting meet. Guy was deadlifting and his bicep just rolled up his arm to the shoulder. Nasty looking injury. Best of luck with your rehab. Doc told me six months off after my back surgery last year and I was able to start physical therapy in three. I know how frustrating it is to be forced to take time off, but don't rush things and re-injure yourself. Good luck and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Excellent advice. You can use this to discover creative ways to train around your injury. This will allow you to pinpoint other body parts that may be lagging, or need fine tuning.

You'll be surprised how quickly you'll get it back when you're able to train that bicep again.
