I got instant relief the minute the costisone was injected and it's been the same ever since. Trained my back/bic yesterday and didn't experience any pain whatsover. So far I'm really happy with the result.

I'll know for sure on Monday when I train chest.
So you were not told to not lift for awhile or anything after the shot? I thought that would just be a type of thing for pain relief while you healed...

The Doc told me to go easy at the gym for the next few days so yesterday I trained back instead of shoulders. Today I trained shoulders but kept the reps at 10-12. So far is has relieved the pain 100%. I'm confident that I'll be fine training chest on Monday.
I've stopped benching now and just using dunmbells with a neutral grip (plus machines). That way I don't flare my elbows at all which seems to take the load off my shoulders.
With all the horror stories I've heard about cotrisone I feel fortunate that it worked so well.

Cool. I'm glad to hear it. From what I've read and heard I've only thought this shot was good for relieving pain while in the healing process which is why I'm kind of surprised you doctor gave you the green light to lift.

yes sir. This is the reason why most people think cortisone shots weaken the area over time. The truth is people go straight back to performing the same motions that caused the injury just because the pain has been numbed.
The injury remains and is getting worse because the area is not being rested or treated, instead, its still being used. Imagine running and jumping with a hariline -fractured shin bone just because you cant feel the pain. Eventually, you get a clean break and you cant use the leg anymore. Thats what happens with injuries when cortisone is used to relieve the pain. Like with the shoulder, eventually you cant use that shoulder anymore.
My advise is to take a month off all pressing movements and do the rotator cuff strengthening and rehab exercises. It takes about 8-12 weeks for a partial thickness rc tear to heal. For now remember that whenever you train chest, that injury is getting worse and if you keep going , eventually you'll require surgery.
You're right ^ it has only masked the pain and I did take time off lifting altogether over Christmas (9 weeks) and it made no difference at all. Lately some days it would really hurt and other days the pain was bearable and now after the shot it feels great but I'm aware that it hasnt healed.
I've change the way I lift so that is does not aggrivate this injuiry too much. That's the best I can do as more time away from the gym is not an option.
As stated above, cortisone is highly catabolic, but also a very effective steroidial anti inflamitory. Its affects on reducing chronic pain are profound, but still temporery in most cases. I trained a lady that got 8 shots in one year in the back of her knee from several doctors( doctors are only suppose to give i believe a max of 3 a year). Long story short her calf muscle attrified so bad it looked like a shark took a bit out of her leg, leaving nothing but bone and skin. My addvice get one if u really need it, it's just sythetic cortsol. The shit that negates our goal in BB anyway. I would use HGH and deca first, If that doesn't help go for the shot. Deca will lub the joints and GH will help regenerate micro teers in the damaged tissue. It healed my rotator cuff and torn bicept in a couple of months, along with my tendonitis.

I tried for some time to get my hands on deca as I have sore joints at the best of times however it proved difficult to find. HGH is difficult to come across also. I live in a country town ( not the US) so there's just not that many guys here that use gears. A mate of mine has moved to the city and he trains at a hardcore gym so I'm sure he'll be able to hook me up with deca in future.

It's good that it's getter better then, but time away from the gym is always better in the long run when it comes to letting an injury head. This don't seem to be an issue in your case anyway.

This is what I was thinking - if there is a minor to medium tear in there, then it will turn into a major one.
I tore a calf muscle a couple of years ago (heard it pop!). I never went to a doctor and it healed itself in a couple of months, but every once in a while I would move it wrong and feel like I had re-injured it. I am sure it would have been worse if I had temporary pain relief and decided to go running . . .
I imagine shoulder takes even longer to heal than a calf muscle. Also, I wonder whether all shoulder injuries will even heal on their own?

As stated in this thread, I've healed one shoulder injury with time off benching and rehab exercises however this injury was not gonna heal nomatter what I did.
It's been great ever since the cortisone shot and if there comes a time I need another I wont hesitate in making an appointment. I'm back benching more than I ever have and although I get a little pain while shoulder pressing with dumbells, I just don't go too heavy to avoid injury. With the machines such as Hammer-Strength and the Smith Machine I can shoulder press with 100% intensity.
Cortisone is one of the worst things you can put in your body. It is a catabolic hormone and causes muscle tissue breakdown. Seems to be the opposite of what everybody on this site is trying to accomplish.
destroys condracytes, little tiny cartilage building fuckers, avoid these shots
