Thread: Hep C

So about 20 years ago, I was diagnosed as having a non A non B hepatitis. They hadnt catagorized C yet. Said nothing they can do about it. Then about 17 years I got diagnosed with Hep C. Again, they didnt have a treatment for it. So I carried the virus for many years. I went to one Doc and he recommended I go on Interferon. I was freaked out. Did some research on it and the success rate was very low. Decided against treatment. years later my viral load was high. Tired, lethargic weak all the time. I knew what it was. I enrolled in a clinical trial of Peg Interferon w/Ribovarin. That treat almost killed me. It was the worse thing Ive ever been through. Ok, the clinical trials catagorized me as cured. miracle! Ive been tested once a year now for 10 years. Negative. Good. Just got a call from my doc saying I still have it. I said BS (I know him well). I said I was just tested last month by the blood doc and he said I dont have it. he looked at my records and says "oh..ya, I guess you dont. Hmmm..must be the antibodies that you still have" I said ya, they will always be there. I had hep C. He made a mistake, but Im telling ya, Im having a drink right now. There was no fuckin way I was going through that treatment again. Whew!

if i was a regular joe and trusted docs, which i dont for the one and only diagnostics, id be all over getting more tests done. He also told me my rbcs were off the chart at 20. Suppose to be 17 or something., tells me to cut back on my test. Lol! Im aonly running 250mg week now. My rbcs have been high for years. He knows that and he knows im not cutting back either. But, hes a good guy and he knows what im do. Just goes to show ya though. question your doctor. Your his customer. He isnt your customer
