Since you posted this in the training section. I assume you did this while you were training?
Can you explain how you came about this Pain you're having? |

Did you pinch a nerve while working out? I hate it when that happens. I do that like once a year, and it results in my not being able to move my head. Not much you can do except let it heal, which will take a couple of days. Some Tylenol will help make it feel a little better.

I think the pain resulted from doing upright rows. This is actually not the 1st time it's hurting, just never this bad.
I started doing the hypertrophy program, but now I'm thinking that maybe it's too advanced for me? I'm not a begginer to weights but deffinately not advanced. Should I start with an easier program? If yes, any suggestions? |

If this is causing you added pain, by all means, listen to your body and take a break or stop the hypertrophy program.
What are your goals? |

My goal (as in most women) is to loose body fat and gain some muscle. To be toned.

from your description it could be so many things...just muscle spasm....could have a pinched nerve that could be easily fixed by a chiropractor....could have strained a muscle and just need to ice it and rest.
describe your pain....ache, burn, tingle? does it stay in one area or shoot to other areas? does it hurt all the time or just during certain movements? when did it start...right after training, during training, when you woke up the next day? more info = more help!...lol |

[q]So you're not hitting the weights heavy and you're still getting pain? [/q]
Well I sort of am doing heavy work (at least for me it's heavy lol).. I'm not very strong. Here's what my workout looked like... Incline Press 3x6x two 12s Fly’s 3x6x two12s Triceps extensions 2x6x20, 6x15 Barbell Shrug 3x6x20 Upright Rows 3x6x20 Barbell Curl 3x6x20 [q]describe your pain....ache, burn, tingle? does it stay in one area or shoot to other areas? does it hurt all the time or just during certain movements? when did it start...right after training, during training, when you woke up the next day? [/q] The pain is more like ache and burn It's mostly in one area. It hurst mostly when I try to move my head (mostly backword). It started hurting the day after training. |

usually aching/burning pain is associated with a muscular injury, also the fact that it hurts when you move point to a muscle....the fact that it stays in one area suggests there is no nerve involvement.
I would say you strained the muscle pretty bad and may have some spasms that can be worked out with some deep massage and trigger point therapy followed by ice, and as always drink lots of water to help flush out the toxins. (please understand that this is the best diagnosis i can give with the info you gave me and the fact that i cant physically examine you....if this does get worse over the next few days please go see a chiro...or at least let me know what is going on!) |
