Because I get hot very easily (working and working out), I am usually always wearing a ponytail. Is that bad for my hair? I don't wear it tight though.

What's hair???
The statue of Liberty no longer reads "Bring us your tired, your hungry, your huddled masses..."
Now she's holding a baseball bat and it reads "Bring It On." |

I'm in my 30's and I've had long hair all my life except for 3 years. I would never cut it again. I wear a ponytail too when I'm working out and sometimes when I know I'm going to be to hot with my hair down. But as long as you are using clothe covered elastics or barrettes that don't break your hair, you should be fine. Hair always looks great when it's cared for, and by that I mean conditioned, cut and hot oil treated. The shampoo you choose will have an effect on it too. Does that help? ![]()

anyways.....its taken a while to get my hair to behave semi healthy. Honestly the green tea shampoo has helped. there is a whole product line of green tea hair care available...and off the top of my head i cant remember the name, im at work and cant run and look, ill post the name later. they have cream hair gel, shampoo, conditioner...i would use that lightly because the shampoo alone is leaves my hair so soft and shiny. IMO I really would stay away from silicone stuff...like pantene and some hair serums that contain that. they tend to clog hair follicles.....and leave a residue. try gottobe (sp?) products. they have a great hair serum that is soy protein, not silicone. Now lets all try to have a great hair day!! ![]()

Well, I had my hair grown down to more than half way down my back last year. But then I cut it for my college graduation - let me tell you, the biggest mistake I've ever made. Okay, well maybe not the biggest mistake - but let's not get into that. Anyway, it actually looked really cute at first, but I started to hate it after a month...and now I really hate it because it's a couple inches past my shoulders. I hate the mid-stage. Anyway, I don't use rubberbands, I use scrunchies. And I don't put my hair up tight.
Paul Mitchell shampoo is really good.

I have hair to my waist only because I don't have the time to cut it (nor do I want to waste my money at a salon). I always have it in a ponytail . Now, if you always put it in a tight, tight one you can get traction alopecia but that is rare.

I always though longer hair puts extra stress on your scalp because of the extra weight it has to carry.

Use a scrunchy that doesn't put strain on the hair or get tangled/rip hairs out. You should be fine, I had long hair years ago.

Sandra--Do you use the brand "Back To Basics" (They have a green tea line)???
I have always had long hair-my entire life. At some stages it is to my waist..sometimes Its a few inches past my shoulders. I cut it every 2 months to keep it healthy. It was in bad condition 4 years ago do to to much processing..but its much better now. ![]() I keep my hair in a pony tail EVERY day for at least 5 hours. (from after work to the next day) I always sleep with it in a ponytail. There's nothing wrong with that..as long as you condition your hair well & Don't use rubberbands ![]()
