Cold Coming on...

I feel a cold coming on, because when I get a soar throat I get sick a couple days after. What is something I can take that will help me not get sick or help hold it off for a while because I am currently in Lacrosse playoffs and I want to be healthy? thanks

Nutrabiotics Defense Plus. Its expensive but the stuff works. 2 years ago DP introduced me to this stuff and I swear by it. It gets rid of my sinus infections, sore throats and colds all the time. I take 2 caps 3 times a day and in 2-3 days I feel like new.

Ive never used the Nutrabiotics stuff... but high dose vit c and zinc usually helps. Echinacea for the hell of it.

Stop taking or lower any fish oil/sesathin you might be taking, too.

Gargle with salt water about six times a day. The price is right - it's almost free! If you do this as soon as you notice the symptoms, salt water works wonders. Germs cannot live in salt water! And don't eat chocolate! Germs like chocolate more than humanoids do.

If you don't "nip it the bud," as Barney Fife would say, then more serious action must be taken, such as Jodi's suggestion.

I also do megadoses of vitamin C and zinc, but don't understand cutting back on fish oil. Monolith, can you please explain?

Fish oil can be immunosuppressive at moderate-high doses.

Thanks for the info, Monolith! I was clueless regarding fish oil's effects on the immune system.

fresh minced garlic, it is horrid but at the onset of a cold or sore throat i mix a tablespoon or two with honey and lemon and it works - next day I'm fine. of course there is speculation that it works because I believe it will....
