Post sickness recomondations?
I have been laid up in my bed since friday. I bairly made it out of my room about 5 times and I have been hardly eating as well due to me sleeping ALOT since friday to try and get better. On top of that, my diet was basically soup, cereal, and more water than I ever drank in my life. Hopefully by this weekend or next week I will be in good enough condition to return to the gym and return to eating well but that brings me to my question. What does everyone recomend for eating, being that my diet has sufferend ALOT and are there any recomondations for the gym b/c i have been in bed for almost a week now and have bairly moved.
Thanks for any help. (P.S. Thanks god for laptops, i would have gone insane without myne in bed.) |

It depends on what kind of sickness. I had a bad bug once that screwed up my intestinal tract for over two weeks (even though I was only sick for a few days). Every time I tried to eat meat or fish, my body had a hard time digesting it. I won't get into those details, but I recommend sticking to foods that you know your body can easily handle. That may mean whey instead of chicken breast. Eat simple foods, low fat, small meals, plenty of protein and carbs, not too much fiber--and slowly adjust your diet back to where it was before you got sick over the course of a week or so. Sooner, if you feel comfortable. Keep the workouts short. Your body is taxed and your energy supply is low. Just go and do 2 or 3 sets of each exercise, nothing hardcore, and gradually work back to where you were. If you were that sick, I would take it easy in the gym for at least one week. Most importantly, listen to your body.
