Shoulder Injuries
For anyone who has torn or dislocated (or any other injury for that matter) their shoulder, heres a question/scenario for you...
When I stand up, and bring my right arm straight out to the side of me (so my body and arm make a 90 degree angle) and then push my arm back, at one point I feel a quick "pop" in my shoulder. Sometimes I get pain when I lift with it, usually on mil presses and the occassional chest press. Also when I run or jog, I will get a warm achey sensation in this shoulder. My left shoulder now... When I do DB flys I get more of a sharp pain the the front of my shoulder, in the proximity to where my collar bone meets the pec and delt. Sometimes I will get the warm achey feeling in this shoulder as well. Diagnosis anyone? Planning on getting a MRI on both very shortly. If they are both in need of surgery, what can I expect for downtime? |

impossible for any one to make a diagnosis over the net, for one we're not doctors, for two I would at least need to see you person and move your arm around to know exactly when and where the pain is.
it very well could be rotator cuff, but even if it is only a doc that specializes in shoulders would know whether or not surgery is necessary. I injured both of my rotator cuffs but it did not require surgery, I had to lay off on pressing movements for about one month, overall it took several months before I could lift heavy again. of course had I just stopped training for a month I imagine the healing process would have been much quicker. Twin Peak had surgery on his rotator cuff awhile back, he might be able to shed more light on that side of it and the recovery process. |

I have two bad shoulders. Anytime I have pain in those joints I go and see a masotherapist (deep tissue massage). Or I will see a Muscle Activation Technition (MAT).
They seem to always get the job done in about 1-3 visits. Make sure you have a specialist look at you though. |

Yup, go to an orthopedist. I seperated mine not too long ago, and he says that they rarely do surgery anymore. just rest a bunch. Another thing to do is take Naproxen(aleve) The naproxen will help to loosen the muscle up, so you are less prone to re injure it. I take double the recommended dose twice daily.
