I have told this tale before...
I was haveing severe back pain at the base of my spine a while ago
Went to a Chiro for two years, the condition never permanently improved -
My solution was to examine my training, and balance the volume and intensity
of training I was applying to my torso in every direction
In my case, this meant stepping up to ab work with much heavier resistance
like 40-50 pound crunches and such,
to counteract the multi hundred pound deadlifting I was doing
have not had a problem since...
If I do pull something, I have it pounded with deep tissue massage
and rest and heal, but there is never any ongoing pain -
Flexability work will usually keep my muscles from bunching tightly
around my spinal cord
