    mono

My brother has mono, and it activated at Christmas. Now I may have it, or it may just be a cold. But - due spleen and liver enlarging from mono I heard you shouldn't do anyone contact sports to prevent a rupture. I went to the hospital to see if I had it but it was too early to run blood tests at this stage(if it is mono). He said it would be O.K. to lift weights while having mono, just as long as I don't hit any into my mid-section. Has anyone lifted while they have had mono, any thoughts or feelings?

I think it would be extemely stupid to lift while having mono.

Your best bet is to suck it up and wait till you get better and have some energy back. Thats what I did. I think I was off for about 3.5 months, but I had it real bad, hospital bad.

I have mono, but not the hospital bed severity. I am still excercising but doc says to not make it more than 45mins, only go 80%, and take a nap each day for the same amount of time I excercise.. so a 45 min nap, then 45 min workout inbetweeen classes for me. Other than that eat healthy, sleep as much as you can, take vitamins, and try to stay out of germy situations when you can help it (dont go take care of sick friends). I personally feel like I have had 4 hours of sleep instead of 8 every night-not cool!

increase fish oils to 1-2 teaspoons a day this will reduce the arachondonic acid associated with mononucleousis and wil accelerate healing by a substantial amount of time. if they did a immune blood test they should show elevated leukotryenes which fish oils can help with. Cross reference fish oils and mononucleousis arachondiac acid in search and you will get a match. Hope this helps. Have you been check for epstein bar virus ?

I ended up not having mono but thanks for the info. I'll know what I can do if I ever get it.
