    sleeping trouble

I am woken up pretty consistantly in the early morning by the barking of dogs. Once I get woken up, I get pissed, therefore making it harder for me to go back to sleep. Also, after I am woken, I am always on edge just waiting for another barrage of barks, sure enough, they come. It is costing me a good hour of sleep most mornings and it becoming a heavy nusence. I have a fan literatly 2 feet away from my head on full blast to block out noises but it only does so much. I have wooden planked floors which has hardly any noise insulation. Are there such things that I can wear over my ears when I sleep to block out noises? I've tried ear plugs but they fall out whilst I slumber and only provide so much noise depletion. Obviously, they would need to be comfortable, can anyone help me out here? Thanks.

I use OSHA standard ear plugs that they give to construction workers and people involved on heavy machinery. They are comfortable and they work. they just tenden the sound. They are yellow sponge like. do not use ear wax it can get stuck in ears and not good.

    http://earplugstore.com/foam_plug_information.htm

I use the yellow ones but they got all pretty colors LOL

lol, thanks for the info. That is the most informative website I've seen on earplugs. The barbed wire ones look pretty silly.

Wal-Mart sells ear plugs that I can recommend. They're blue soft silicone material that conforms nicely to the shape of the ear canal and are very comfortable. You get twenty of these reuseable earplugs for less than 4 bucks. I've used them several years because of barking dogs and heavy road traffic noise that continues until well after 1am and starts back up again about 5am.

I use them when on travel, staying in noisey hotels as well.

Ear plugs dont always work, i used to have the same problem. I took ZMA and that helped improve my sleep. It is normally used for strength training athletes but it aids in sleep patterns so the athlete can recover more efficiently. It wont work right away but take it every day 30 min before you sleep and you will sleep right away.

He seems to be able to sleep well. the only issue is that he gets awoken early in the morning due to noise. Your prob is different. you seem to have an issue in getting quality sleep. See this thread.

dah, I've been using ear plugs and I still get woken up sometimes. I bought some at walmart called "Hearos". They are NRR 32dB. They do help somewhat though.

I don't like wearing earplugs, because then I can't hear the ET's when they enter my room during the night.

Here is something that may help you not to many may think about how much exposure to the sun you get ? Since I have been getting atleat an hour a day from the sun my sleep quality has been greatly improved. Sunlight is a source of energy and also helps balance out serotonin levels and keeps hormones in proper balance..just food for thought

I haven't really been getting alot of sun actually. I do notice that days I spend more time outside I sleep better, along with less time on the computer. Now I know the connection. It is nice out today though and I'm going fishing. Thanks!

I've also been using eye shades and they have been helping.

you need the sun light to get into the retinas to stimulate the hypothalamus using sunglasses blocks the sunlight. Again it sunlight is important but may be trouble could claify if the sunglasses distrupt the the stimulation from sunlight to hypothalamus stimulation. Again I have read reports that people wearing sun glasss take them off and even feel alot less depressed.

Tranquilizer guns with darts filled with an 8 hour sedative, at night before you sleep shoot the dogs in the ass and then hit the hay. They will sleep well and you will sleep well.

Or you could go to bed an hour earlier.

Although I laughed my ass off at this comment (sorry BD), its also shit filler (whitenoise) I'd rather avoid in these technical sections, Maniclion. If you would muffle it, I'd like to avoid playing the role of sawtooth filter here.

Well I tried silicone ear plugs called "ear" pillows. They sure created an tight seal over my ear, but they hardly reduced the noise. Maybe I put them in wrong. Well I slept great anyways with my other plugs. First time I slept 8 hours straight without waking/being woken up.

Fufu, the brand I recommend and use are called Hearos. They're moderately soft and blue. I tried another brand (orange) that Wally World started to carry as well (I bought them for field work) and the lower SPL theshold was quite a bit worse than the Hearos, plus they're not nearly as comfortable.

I had been using Hearo's for a while now. They seem to work the best, I'll just stick with those.
