    Lines?

    I noticed this when I went into the shower, and its happened before. When I lift a lot, I sometimes get these streaky lines on my shoulders, and chest close to my armpits. What is this caused by? If anytihng, il take some pix of them next time they pop up. Sometimes they do, sometimes they dont. Ive had them on my back once as well.

    They're called stretchmarks.

    And if they're relatively recent, you can do a few things to help prevent them for worsening and help heal them (to avoid permanent scarring).

    They disappear by themselves...they were there last night, and now i just woke up for school, adn they are already gone.

    Take a hint. You're stretching out the dermis support structure. The redness is from the microcapillary damage.

    You can only stretch it so many times before the damage sets and doesn't disappear.

    Got to improve that elasticity OR reduce the stretch force on the tissue.

    No sir, I would get thee to your local drugstore or large merchandiser (Walmart, Target) and browse the women's body lotion section..looking for the words: skin renewal, copper peptides OR alphahydroxy and Vitamin C ester and/or DMAE and/or alpha lipoic acid. These compounds promote a slow gain in tissue elasticity and may help prevent tensile (stretch) failure of the dermal support polymeric matrix.

    IF the rate of growth slows down a little and you are promoting strengthening of skin support matrix by use of the skin care product, you should be able to avoid permanent stretch mark damage.

    There have been hints that collagen and elastin production in skeletal support tiissues is triggered by growth signalling. Presumably, skin elastin and collagen will also respond to these growth induction triggers, albeit at a slower rate (skin is, after all, the largest organ of our bodies, and thats one hell of a lot of cells to turn over). Thus you need to boost the signal to strengthen the support matrix AND you need to match growth rates to avoid mechanical stretching damage. Remember, you have thinning of the skin as it stretches to cover axial (circumference stretching) growth and you have pulling on the skin from flex movement as well. Thinning and stretching of skin.

    Indeed, one benefit of exercise often noted among men and women in middle and elder years is a skin age-reversal effect, a nice side benefit of strength training - and use of whey. I'll discuss that revelation, elsewhere.

    Thats just from the bench. I get those too, usually I have an outline of the bench on my back and at my shoulders it looks a little beat up like yours.

    Did you do any exercise with pads on your shoulders? e.g. standing calf raises? If so then from the pic, it looks like the pad on your shoulder put preassure on the shirt you were wearing which made that mark/impression on your skin. It happens to me all the time whenever a 'weight' is placed on my shoulder. It isnt permanent.

    Now that you tell me, I was working on this machine where you stand, and push up with your legs, and the shoulders pretty up on these pads...i was wearing a beater and a tee, so i guess ur right

    Well hell, they're not stretch marks, its machine pad imprints. Woulda helped if you'd posted the pics first. Mystery solved. Tain't NO way someone is going to have nearly perfectly straight parallel stetch marks.
