    Knee Pain

    I wouldn't exactly call it pain, but I've been feeling some slight kind of pain or rather weakness in my knees. It feels kind of raw, not really any kind of grinding pain - it's usually just one leg or the other for a week or so at a time. The thing is it - I don't feel any pain when I'm running or squatting just when I'm walking after I do one of these movements. It's weird, and hard to explain - it just feels kind of week and a little pain their. I'd compare it to the jello like feeling you feel after an instense leg lift except it's in my knees. Any ideas?

    your description is hard to follow.....where is the pain? lateral? medial? above the knee? below the knee? feels like it is smack dab in the middle of the joint? behind the knee? Does it hurt for days after? Or just a few minutes after the said movements?

    Jordan, you must give a better description of this pain in your knees.

    First, what movements cause it.

    How long does it to feel this weird pain/sensation afterwards and what are you doing when you feel it?

    How long does it last?

    Find a diagram on the web, import into paintshop, draw arrows to the location of the pain, save it and paste it into your reply, along with your answers.

    Then we'll have a better idea of what you're knee injury.

    I noted the spot in the graphic. It's like a weakness or tenderness after lifts like squat, leg presses, and running inclines. It's the soft area between where the two bones connect. I won't really feel any kind of pain just weakness until later on - after I showered, walking down the hall, or especially if I go play touch football afterschool.

    when you say, "the area between the bone", it makes me think Meniscus....but, I don't think you would really feel "weakness" as much as you would feel pain when the knee locks out. When you say "weakness" it makes me think maybe ACL or one of the ligamants that is not stabilizing properly......

    Have you taken some time off from training legs to see how your knees feel after a period of rest?

    Actually, they stop hurting completely after few days. It's just like when I do a lot of cone work where it's a lot of stop and changing direction coupled with leg work.

    Sounds like ACLs are weak are being strained repeatedly.

    Gotta tighten up your knees with exercises. P-funk will know. If he doesn't respond, I'll post some exercises. Similar issue to shoulder (rotator cuff) tendonitis.

    Where do you do the cone work? You are not doing this on pavement, correct?

    not only where BUT when? After your leg workout? How much leg work are you doing per week and how many days of plyos? What is the volume like between the two.

    Cone work done on grass, and usually I like to get my lifting done before the cones. I do legs 2 times a week ( heavy + low rep ). Plyos wise I do about 15-20 minutes of interval training. 30 secs of plyo's 30 secs of rest.

    do things like cones (agility) and plyo's before your weight training, not after it.

    anything that hits the hamstrings will help to increase ACL strength. The hamstrings can even function AS an ACL would in the absence of one. JUst trying to increase the hamstring strength and not let your quads get to over powering can be helpful.
