    mid back pain

hello, I hope anybody has an answer to my question:

I work out 3-4 times a week, im not a really a heavy weight lifter, I just like to have some muscles and be ripped. Well the problem started about 3 months ago, a sharp pain in my mid back wakes me up every night after sleeping 5-6 hours, it goes away after few minutes of stretching and throughout the day I feel perfect, no back pain, no nothing, the pain only bothers me when I sleep more than 5 hours, please if anybody know the cause and the solution post a message.

See my reply to GreekBlondChic in this subforum.

I think your matress is shot and its causing your lower back problems. You'll know if you look at it and find it sagging slightly from where you lay each night.

You might also consider working core muscle to strengthen them, particularly the spinal erectors and obliques and lower abdominals, to help forstall worsening of this situation.

I had a similar pain just below my shoulder blades at certain points. My sports trainer ( for our school ) told me I was very unflexible in my back and this was part of the problem. I think what he told me was that my "lateral tendon" was stretched to tightly across my spine. It was onset by a hard sneeze one day ( this sounds so frufru ) and it persisted into football season. After putting heat on it every morning and having him push on my back with the right breathing techniques and stretching my back 10-15 times over a chair every class ( 5-7 times a day ) it gradually went away.
