ST Combination (you)

• provides information
• focuses on here and now
• gives clear, concise instructions
• presents material in orderly manner
• prefers clearly defined rules and expectations
• is pragmatic, realistic, industrious

SF Combination (other)

• personal warmth, friendliness, empathy
• focuses on here and now
• wants to be liked
• is sensitive to other’s needs
• values honesty of feelings; sensitive to rights and feelings of others
• prefers cooperation; vulnerable to criticism

I,S and J parts are identical in both. Not surprising, or you wouldn't have clicked, right?

This difference - F and T presents the primary differences in your communication styles, emotional wiring, expectations, mode of action.

Orderly, rational, objective vs feeling and subjective.

Solution (thanks to MyK's foresight in posting this info earlier in the thread)

The T Preference

Goal
• systematic solution
• organization

Characteristics
• makes logically accurate statements
• analyses issues carefully & impersonally
• looks at logical consequences
• encourages logical thinking

When interacting with F’s
• first mention points of agreement
• recognize feelings can be both cause & effect
• appreciate F’s efforts and contributions
• tell who else is for the idea
• be personable and friendly
• indicate how it’s helpful
• tell why it’s valuable
• realize that they will take it personally

The F Preference

Goal
• humanly agreeable solution
• sympathy

Characteristics
• appreciates others
• prizes harmony
• sensitive to others
• prefers agreement
When interacting with T’s
• be as logical/orderly as possible
• move logically from point to point
• pay attention to reasons of T’s
• consider T’s estimates of consequences
• share feelings for T’s to consider
• state principles involved
• stress competent handling of issue
• list the costs and benefits

In common:
Those with an I preference tend to:
• have quiet energy.
• think before they act.
• pause to collect thoughts during talk.
• “tune out” background noise.
• resent “repetitive chattering” of others.
• have a few, special friends.
• have been pushed to “be more social.”
• are reserved and hard to get to know.
• rehearse or think before speaking.
• are perceived as great listeners.
• “recharge” alone after socializing.
• have good concentration.

Sensors tend to see the world in terms of the immediate, real, practical facts of experience and life. They will therefore tend to make sense of things by focusing on the facts first.

Those with an S preference tend to:
• be realistic and admire practicality.
• believe “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
• “do” rather than “think” about it.
• like specific answers to questions.
• like jobs with tangible results.
• concentrate on the immediate task.
• prefer working with facts and details.
• insist on, and give, clear instructions.
• prefer teaching facts, not concepts.
• complete tasks step by step.
• search for the best way.
• use words literally.

---------where you are different --------

Thinkers make decisions based primarily on objective and impersonal criteria -- what makes the most sense and what is logical. Feelers make decisions based primarily on their personal values and how they feel about the choices. So, Thinkers tend to be cool, analytical, and are convinced by logical reasoning. Feelers tend to be sensitive, empathetic, and are compelled by extenuating circumstances and a constant search for harmony.

Those with a T preference (YOU) tend to:
• stay cool when others are upset.
• like proving a point.
• objective; may seem cool and uncaring.
• decide on fairness rather than feelings.
• motivated to achieve fairness.
• firm-minded, over gentle-hearted.
• make the difficult decisions.
• trust logic and principles.
• be precise in their use of words.
• are honest and direct.
• are cool and reserved.
• are objective
• are naturally critical.
• are motivated by achievement.

Those with an F preference (OTHER) tend to:

• put themselves into the other’s shoes.
• prefer to accommodate others.
• are warm and friendly.
• decide on feelings rather than fairness.
• motivated to achieve harmony.
• want to apply mercy.
• be good at understanding people.
• trust feelings and values.
• prefer harmony over clarity.
• easily affirm others.
• are sensitive and diplomatic.
• take things very personally.
• are naturally affirming
• are motivated by appreciation.

==== How you are alike ======================

Judgers tend to prefer living life in a decisive, planned, and orderly way, aiming to regulate and control events. Thus, they tend to keep to a schedule and organize their daily activities with lists.

Those with a J preference tend to:

• have a specific place for everything.
• have a schedule for the day.
• be more serious and formal.
• not like surprises or changes in plans.
• work steadily through the task.
• keep and use lists.
• thrive on a planned & orderly lifestyle.
• feel best finishing things.
• be happiest after decisions are made.
• meet deadlines by planning in advance.
• work now, play later.
• stay on topic and finish the discussion.
• be very time-conscious.
• make plans and follow them.
• feel best reaching closure.

I just want to make a point clear that I think alot of you are missing:

You are not one type. these "types" are major generalizations that have been developed from Carl Jungs personality theory. These "types" are simply tools to help us understand ourselves, other people, and how to communicate better. All though we typically do have one dominant personality type, we often shift from one side of the contnium to the next depending on the context we are in. for example, I am usually laid back and introverted, I recharge my batteries by being alone. However, when I am out with my friends I am very outgoing, social, and extroverted.

so when you are taking the questionaire put your self in a context when answering the questions, like being at work or with your family, and see your results. then if you want to have some fun, retake it and answer the questions with the contex of being out at a party or dance club. I hope this makes sense!

INTP
Introverted Intuitive Thinking Perceiving
Qualitative analysis of your type formula

You are:

* very expressed introvert
* distinctively expressed intuitive personality
* slightly expressed thinking personality
* slightly expressed perceiving personality

I see myself as more of an Artisan than a Rational? Maybe a more Rational Artisan? Probably my dyslexia tilts me more towards this type?

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams.WB Yeats

I think this means:

You are out going in groups, equally contented to spend time alone.
You are highly intuitive and have no problem seeing yourself as unique (self-confident).
You are a thinker, but you will sit back and let others express their ideas first. In a meeting, you would be the one who sums it up and suggests solutions.
You are extrosensory, rather than internally judgemental in your use of data to come to conclusions, or for the gathering of information for idea processing.

I don't know you well, but these notions strike me as true of you. You caught my eye early on, when I first came to the forum. I believe we corresponded and I mentioned this point.

Neither link mentions my sexiness though...or my love of beer.

The descriptions though are pretty spot on.

Well... now, you're thinking too much! You're in danger of loosing that 1%. Then, you won't be able to do anything at all!

Be very careful!

"Their quietness ought really to be seen as an expression, not of coldness, but of their sincerity and seriousness of purpose. Like all the Guardians, Protectors have a highly developed puritan work ethic, which tells them that work is good, and that play must be earned-if indulged in at all. The least hedonic of all types, Protectors are willing to work long, long hours doing all the thankless jobs the other types seem content to ignore."

this would definetly be me
