Ok, so I have Strep throat, and it sucks. The doctor definetly confirmed it was strep when he did the 10 minute strep test. I have been put on 500 mg penecilin vk @ 3 times a day. I have been taking it 2 days so far, and I haven't noticed a change as far as the pain goes. I have not had the classic accompanying cold/flu like symptoms--only have been a bit more tired, and the pain in my mouth/throat.
Is it possible I have a strain that is resistant to penecilin VK? If so, will I just get a stronger antibiotic next time I go to the doctor?

I had it back in the spring for an entire month. The streptococcus told the penicillin to get the fuck on, and the penicillin ran like hell. I had to go back to the doctor 2 more times, before they could find an antibiotic that would even put a dent in my strain of strep throat.
If you start to feel better, don't go workout. That was the mistake I made. As soon as I worked out, my strep throat came back with a vengeance.
I hope you get over it soon.

Oh yeah, I just remembered the meds that finally knocked out my strep throat.
Avelox and Zyrtec-D.

You are making it too easy, for reals!
Chloroseptic always worked well for me, I was never big into antibiotics, but strep was a big exception...My father left strep untreated as a young un, developed rheumatic fever, and did major damage to his heart.

You wouldn't unless you went to a doc.
Hit up webmd and peep it. I wouldn't worry if you have antibiotics.
I am the same way Dyl, I freak out when I am sick for more than a couple of days, and think I am dying of cancer until the sane person in me tells me to chill the fuck out.

Just remember, with anitbiotics, take the entire prescribed course. Dont stop them the min you start to feel better.
Oh c'mon BD, are you saying you have never had Strep before? By the way, don't swallow that Chlorasceptic, its got phenol in it.

Tylenol, Advil, aspirin....whatever floats your boat. I'm not a big fan of any med.s at all if I can stand it.....I'd rather let my body fight the battle (within limits, of course) Try a salt water gargle four times a day. (1teaspoon salt per cup of water) it seems to help somewhat.
Trouble might have some more holistic recommendations (spendy hippie-shit....heh heh)
Dude I don't think your body is going to win the battle against a bacterial infection like strep. You need anti-biotics to get rid of it or it will hang around forever. Penecilin wouldn't even get rid of mine. The penecilin got pwned. It was all trying to destroy the bacterial walls of the streptococcus and the strep put it in a Nucleus bar, and the penecilin tapped out.

Unfortunately, you were given a whimpy antibiotic. I already sent you a list is hippie-shit treatments that will get rid of it and stop it from returning.
One other worthwhile hippie-shit technique is visualization, BD. Imagine your white blood cells are massing as a powerful army, yours to command to fight the evil bacterial hordes.
You can enhance your visualization microbial fighting success by watching old reruns of Star Trek - think 'photon torpedoes' and 'tractor beams' for demolishing Strepto-Kligons!
PS: Being slightly feverish and feeling 'out of it' adds to visualization success.
PSS: phenol is liver and kidney toxic. But, then again so are most OTC pain meds.
PSSS: Luckily, your gut bacteria, having been exposed to penicillin countless time before now, will treat it like an old joke, and not flee in terror.![]()
Cheers!
nice drawing!

Horrible technique!

Probably cause the penicillin was too busy trying to fight the other infection you got down there that night in Phuket, remember we had a damn good time but I told you not to bare back that one girl cause she look frail with illness, but no you said she was just anorexic, now whos laughing......![]()
