rx meds to control overactive stress response?

are there any prescription meds that will control and reduce an overactive stress response in the body(produce too much cortisol and Gluc. Corticoids)?

I know that there are few supps that claim to do this but have yet to see liturature support their claims.

In something called Cushing Syndrome we do use some medicines to suppress the overproduction of cortisol until definative therapy can be administered ( ie: brain tumor removal, adrenocortical carcinoma removal and or radiation etc.) However, these meds have a lot of side effects and have not been studied in the situation you describe. They have been used in conditions where people are producing massive, massive amounts of cortisol and not necessarily the milder increases in stress hormones that you describe.

These meds include ketoconazole (Nizoral), mitotane (Lysodren) and metyrapone (Metopirone).

I tried out many ways to reduce stress. Finally I found an excellent solution with the help of Hypnotherapy. It really works out very well.
