    quit smoking; focus problems

I quit smoking last friday and I'm having major problems with my focus. Not only did my whole schedule get altered, but I feel like I have ADD now. I'm less focused and less alert. Anything I can do to combat this?

Nicorette. I don't know? It's like starting a new Diet. It's hard to focus at first but after you do it for awhile you get used to it...

Quitting smoking is NOTHING like starting a new diet.

Have you looked into the gum or the lozenges?

Personally, I feel OTC products should be tried before resorting to drugs.

The point trying to be made was will power. I'm wella ware that smoking and diet are different...but the same principles.

    No comparison.

    Addictions aren't about will power.

No, not at all. It's not a matter of will power with smoking. It's a matter of addiction to nicotine. You can't make that comparison. If you ever was addicted to smoking, you'd understand. All the willpower in the world won't overcome this addiction. Once you are a smoker, you are always a smoker.

Well, I'm bullimic. It's a mental AND physical addiction. Yes addiction, just like smoking. It's all i think about, my body craves it, it's absolutely the hardest thing to get over. but eh, I have been sober for some time myself. Again, not by taking pescriptions, hell, not even going to meetings. But sheer will power.
So if will power didnt work for me? well then what did? I'm really quite curious to know what else it could POSSIBLY be

Well it's day 3 and I'm feeling worse and worse lol. I don't want to put in any nicotine into my body, so all these crutches are out of question. I would go for a big multivitamin though...or a joint lol. Something..I couldn't even sleep last night. My life feels empty.

It's the same thing as smoking though. It's an addiction. She's just sucking on a bottle instead of a butt.

Oh please. You cant come up with the answer. I've provided more then one example of people overcoming addiction with will power and that only. And i kn ow more then one person who have gotten over smoking without a fucking patch. It's not that hard to do. and really, you guys are making it out to be way harder then it actually is. Yah it's hard at first, same with breaking every other habit. I know that.

oh but I'm a teenager, and i dont know jack shit about anything. so excuse me.

It will always be a work in progress. Just consider it a challenge. think of how proud of yourself you'll be if you overcome it.

I've been pulling monstrous boogers out of my nose all day. It's nice to see the system is cleansing itself.

Try smoking for 13 years and come back to me and tell me how "will power" was all you needed.

I doubt you've been making yourself throw up for 13 years.........It's a completely different type of addiction. Sure, some people can do it faster than others but with those that have anxiety and or social problems it takes a lot more to overcome because the nicotine settles these. Don't speak of what you don't know.

Will power was all she needed.
