i had braces when i was a child. it didn't seem to help. i have lots of clicking on my right side now (TMJ) so I don't know.....maybe i will be a candidate for the surgery someday. I have no pain though, so that is good.

and it could be done in two visits w/no pain

That is good, my wife has to wear a mouth piece when she sleeps to combat pain issues. Mind you she has had a tonne of surgery on her mouth since she was a little kid.
yea, i still have to wear a retainer when i sleep to keep shit from shifting around. But, I don't have to wear a head piece or anything like that. that would suck and i can't imagine it being to comfortable.
On the x-ray, my whole right side jaw is about 4cm bigger than on the same spot on the left side. It seems the part that grows on the right side is growing faster than the left and is pushing my jaw to the left.
My right side's teeth dont touch unless I pull my jaw towards it (with my jaw mucles, not my hands). Naturally though, my front left teeth are the only ones that touch.
It doesnt get in the way of eating and theres no pain. I never really wouldve worried about it, but when I got my wisdom teeth taken out, the oral surgeon wanted to take pics of my jaw (he saw it back then) and told me that we "may want to look at this in the future." Well, lately Ive noticed Ive grinded my teeth in the morning and after I did that, I noticed that I am no longer using as much teeth as before. I needed to go to the dentist anyway (it was 4 years since my last visit), so I decided to see what they said.
The dentist I go to was like a big brother to me all my life (he lived next door). He fucking came into the room, interupting the hygentist from chopping my gums up and asked which parents to speak to about this. What the fuck? I am 27, why did he ask this? I figured it was cuz of cost...

Ill have to register to that site when I am at home. I searched the first 4 pages and I see nothing of crossbites. All overbites/underbites.
I guess my biggest worry is wearing braces at my age. The dentist tried to cope with me by saying it would be worse in my 40s and having to go through this. Twice as expensive and I might need dentures. I though, fuck I dont care. In my 40s Ill have more money, Ill be miserably married, fuck it!
But...I started to remember how scared I was when I fucked up my back and it doesnt even feel that long ago, I herniated my disk, but I am back in the gym and happy, so I thought, fuck it; if I need braces, Ill learn to live with them.
What I want to know is how about wired jaws? How long do people have their jaws wired? Are the jaws wired completely shut or just a lil open? How could you eat, even protein shakes with a closed mouth? That would SUCK, but if its half the time of braces.....
I really dont know about any of this shit...and July 2 is a long time away.
