How long for lower-back muscles to repair?
Hey guys
I've recently pulled a muscle(s) in my lower back. I had to stop my workout immediately, and the next morning, I could barely sit up, or even stand. However, I put that down to the fact Id been resting it still for about 8 hours. Today however, although I still get a sharp pain when I lean, twist or face downwards, I'm up and about. Now I know healing times depend on the severity of the damage, but does anyone have a rough idea of how long lower back muscles tend to take when healing? It seems to be more of my left-hand side that's hurting more than the other. I don't want to rush back into things as I don't want to make it worse, but I don't wanna take too much time off too. Lastly, when resuming my training, will the muscle be repaired back to full strength, or will I have to take it a little easier getting back into it and strengthen that muscle again? Cheers. |

How do you know it is muscular?
I injured my back a while ago, it took about 4 days of sitting on the recliner until it got better. It got better immediently too, it went from as bad as it got to all the way better in a matter of a couple hours. |

I assume it's not anything severe like spinal injury as my spine doesn't grate or feel in pain - it's normal as usual, it's the aching to the side of it etc. This pain feels similar to muscular pain I've had in other areas in the past and even the cramping or utter fatigued ache after workouts.
I assumed it was muscular, could it be a tendon or ligament etc then? |

The ice is for any inflammation and swelling that may be present or building - which you can attack with a good topical treatment balm or analgesics if you like - and the heat is because sometimes things just need to warm up and resttle in a more natural and comfortable postion before they stop hurting and regain proper immediate painfree function capacity. Traditional chinese medical practioners have some very effective creams and ointments for exactly this kind of thing. they call them 'jows' and a big tub is usually fairly reasonablely priced and keeps as long as it lasts . I'd personally probably recommend you try to get in extra fluids and lightly stretch the area in the opposite direction to how it pulls when it hurts ( inward of that ) and get massaged in the area if you can swing that to expediate your recovery time, but failing that the above is fairly standard advice. Once it's right, unless it's something much more serious, then you should be fine to resume your normal load. . it's probably a really good wake up call to be mindful of form. Mags, go to the doctor. He'll give you muscle relaxants. You will get better way faster. I don't care for pain pill but he'll give them to you too. Sometimes just taking the muscle relaxants at night alone is enough. You need to get serious about this or you will be paying the price for years to come.
Doctor.... Relaxants........... Rest......... Listen to your body |

I'll try and take it easy. As my old man says 'A bad back is like a good friend - once you get them, you've got them for life'.
Cheers guys, thanks for the advice. |

its depend person to person , means how much injury you have, for my personal experience , i have take rest of 2 week as suggest by the doctor, after that i have no problem , my advice is that you should take the rest 10day minimum or until you will not feel fit.
