Do diabetics have to work harder?
Okay, my male friend is a bodybuilder. He is about 200lb and 6ft tall, with a reasonable level of muscular definition.
He trains in the gym with weights 5x per week, doing a body part split. He is in the gym for about an hour and a half to two hours on average per night. We were discussing ideas one day and he said to me that he gets so tired by the time of his last workout of the week that he can barely finish it. I suggested cutting his sessions down to 3 or 4 times per week, but he wouldn't have it. He said that, because he is a diabetic (type 1) he needs to work much harder than the average person to force his body to gain muscle. Is there any truth to this? |

Absolutely no truth to it. In fact, through insulin manipulation, he's probably better off.
Tell him to hop on the boards and straighten out his training. |

Okay - im gonna tell him, but i don't think he wants to hear it to be honest. Sometimes i wonder if he got so big in spite of his training, not because of it!
Cheers Sox! |

He trains that long? Thats dumb, when you train close to 60mins or longer test levels decrease and cortisol production increases due to the stress.. and it becomes counter productive.
DD is diabetic, and look at him. |

All I know is if my brother trainer for two hours and wasn't sipping on something with carbs/sugar, he'd faint.
Just the other day, because he plays High School football and it's "Doubles Season," he had to leave the gym early because he had no money and his blood sugar was dangerously low. |
