    So, I can't walk....

I got home over an hour ago from a leg workout and I absolutely can't get out of my chair. I can't stand up at all. Literally. Has this ever happened to anyone before?

Just so you know, I'm not kidding at all. I've eaten shit 3 times so far including dropping my shake all over my kitchen, hyper extending my good knee in the process.

    Seriously.

Not expecting a cure or anything, just curious to see if this has happened to anyone before, cuz it's never happened to me before.

Where you literally need crutches to get around the house? I mean, I've been tender before, but I can't make it to the car let alone go to work if I had to. Hell it just took me 13 minutes to take a piss.

I'll put it this way. There have been days when walking down the steps from the gym felt like a major operation. However, it usually calmed down after a few hours.

Has this ever happened before? Sounds extreme.

Yeah, no this has never happened before. Seriously, we're not talking stairs a major operation, we're talking stairs impossible right now. I haven't even cleaned up my shake off the kitchen floor because I can't really stand. I mean I can move my legs but I really can't stand up using all my might. Once I'm erect I can lock my legs out and grab on to stuff, that's about it.

    Extreme muscle fatigue, maybe...

Muscle Cell Fatigue after Extreme Exercise Found Similar to Heart Failure Fatigue

"What do marathoners and heart failure patients have in common? More than one might think, according to physiologists at Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC).

A new study published in the February 12 Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences* shows that the fatigue which marathoners and other extreme athletes feel at the end of a race is caused by the same tiny leaks inside the calcium channels in muscles that probably also sap the energy from patients with heart failure. [And may be part of the dysregulated biochemical cycle in ME/CFS/FM patients described by Dr. Martin L. Pall, PhD and others.]

    Calcium Leakage Inside Muscle Cells

A continuous leak of calcium inside muscle cells seems to weaken the force produced by the muscle and also turns on a protein-digesting enzyme that damages the muscle fibers. The study found the leak was present in the muscles of mice after an intense three-week regimen of daily swimming and in athletes after three days of intense daily bicycling. Andrew Marks, MD, chairman of physiology and cellular biophysics, and director of the Clyde and Helen Wu Center for Molecular Cardiology at CUMC, previously discovered that this calcium leak existed in mice with heart failure."

I bet it just hit you outta nowhere didn't it. Happened to me a few years ago. I actually fell down the handicapped access ramp leaving the gym to go to my car. it was just like you're describing. My buddy had to almost carry me to the damned car.
It got better as the day passed, but my legs were sore as hell for about a week.

That has never happened to me, and I have killed my legs to the point of trembling jello. I wish I could offer you some help, but instead all you get is my concern and hope that you get over it.

I am going to bump this thread occasionally until somebody that knows more than me can offer some better advice.

I still can't stand up with my legs, I have to grab on to stuff and lock my knees out completely while I walk. This is just bizarre. As soon as my knee bends and I'm nearing the very beginning of a squat, my legs don't have the power to keep me standing. I'm not in any kind of pain, just very very bizarre. Thanks for the concern guys.

Tell ya what would be funny. A video of me eating shit in the kitchen, throwing my protein shake all over the place. That was priceless. Then after I got up, I stepped on a piece of glass, lifted my foot, and I collapsed again. This time managing to pin my legs under me. All of that was very unfunny at the time, but it would for sure win the 100K.

No need to end up like this. Youre killing yourself. And couldve been seriously injured like when you fell. Many folks roll ankles and knees when they are fatigued. What was your workout

I have to agree with this. There is really no reason to demolish yourself to the point of not being able to walk. Everyone experiences some bit of soreness especially after an intense leg day, but to not be able to walk like you describe is overdoing it IMO.

Is this the first time you have done an intense leg workout in a while? Could that be why it hit you so hard?

No pain at all, just extreme fatigue apparently. The weirdest part of the whole thing is it was a real light day, but it is only my 2nd squat day since a long layoff. Last night I felt like Steve Martin in "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels", only I really couldn't get up. At all. I tried to do some research, all I came up with is it was the group of muscles just above my quads that were the culprits.

I never did regain strength last night but I was fine this morning. Just some tenderness in my knee from hyper-extending it.

This is exactly what I did:

    Back Squats:
    135x12
    185x12,12,12

    Leg Extensions:
    125x12,12,12

Some calf work, and a 15 minute jog on the treadmill. Very short and light workout so being that fatigued made no sense to me, especially since that's never happened to me even on a ME day. Thanks for the help though guys.

It sounds like the symptoms of being very sore, but exponentially greater. This is really a guess, but maybe you have an electrolyte deficiency?

Ya know, it's very possible. I definitely drink plenty of water, but my lips seem to chap quite easily, as if I'm dehydrated.

Maybe try to some gatorade. Proper electrolyte replacement provides your muscles with nessecary nutrients for the motor neurons to fire.

Holy shit, I have never experienced it either.

The muscles were sore? Just like a involuntary loss of control?

    Weird shit.

Take some time off to recoup. I'm going through the same thing though not to that degree. I almost got seriously hurt doing squats on Monday with a weight that I know for a fact I can do since I've done it.

Basically I just went too hard for too long without taking a break, and my legs basically told me to screw off. I get the feeling that you did roughly the same thing.

No gym for home, work out floor with 30, but is it for 20 like 30 lb when you no lift it to be for men, for 30 lbs instead? or half is 10 for 20 pounds?

There was absolutely no soreness, but where my legs were rendered useless is where I got the worst DOMS the next few days. It was just the oddest thing that's ever happened to me following a workout considering it was a light workout. I've had days where it was hard to walk, but never to the point that it was literally impossible.

If it does happen to anyone else, just hang out and rest. Don't panic and try to walk around or you will bust your ass. LOL!

Sometimes this happens, if you are not getting relief withing few hours you should go to doctor, but this might not be very serious problem.

I had problems, once, getting up and down the stairs of the gym. Had to take one step at a time.
And after an arm workout, I was once not able to extend my arms for a whole day because of the muscle sore.
