Recently returned (about two weeks ago to the forum) since some life and health issues. My wife and I separated after 22 years a while back and my drinking just got out of hand. I started drinking immediately after work and didn't stop until I went to bed. This caused high blood pressure and some other things, so I have committed to stop and have joined Alcoholics Anonymous where I have found that there are a number of folks just like myself.

I have recommitted myself to the gym and have been working out like a mad man. AA has taught me that I have a disease and now I live in 24 hour time frames. Each 24 hour period that I stay sober is like a PR for me. I feel better now than I have in years and was just wondering if there is anyone else here in AA.

I don't belong to AA, but had to attend some of their meetings due to a dui. I was able to see that they were compassionate, and really do help the person who is willing to quit... Thank the good Bill W...through all of that, I learned I had the disease. One wasn't enough and a thousand wasn't too many.

22 years! That sucks...Enough to drive any good man to drink!
