Steam Rooms
Any benefits to this? I have eczema that bothers me, and I was curious if this could help with skin, or general overal health. I don't do hot tubs anymore due to the chemicals in the water being hard on my skin. I noticed that the steam room at the gym feels good for say 5 minutes after a workout. I feel refreshed when I come out. Is that in my head or can this help in any way?

Weird question, but I'll ask it. Are you aware of the connection between gluten intolerance and eczema? Also, are you getting in enough essential fats?
Wondering where to start? Confused? This will get you started.

Not totally aware or understand that, but I think you have mentioned it before. I am taking fish oil and flax daily. I've also had a lot of tests ran without anything coming back wrong...allergies, diseases, skin byopsy.

Gluten intolerance isn't an allergy. It doesn't always show up with a blood-test either. I test negative but I react not-so-great to gluten, particularly when I eat a lot of it.
How much flax, how much fish oil?

You might want to crank the fish oil up a bit. I take ten.

I am not sure yet 100% but it seems like fish oil makes me gassy or gives me the shits. I don't mean to sound gross, but since taking the fish oil I have noticed more gas and I crap a little looser now. I seem to be able to offset this by eating a lot more fiber i.e. increasing servings of veggies like broccoli.
I have been trying to up my fish oil from 4 caps to 8, but the gas has got be worried. I could try it for a week and see what happens. Like 2 caps per meal instead of 1. |

Are you sure your fish oil isn't rancid? Mine doesn't do this to me.
I don't take flax though. Flax used to give me the burps something fierce. I won't touch it. It's a goitrogen anyway.

The fish oil caps are new and do not expire for some time. I store them out of light and the bottle is red so no light is getting in there, and the temp is not extreme one way or the other.
I do not have any issues with thyroid so flax should be ok. I am doing blood work Tuesday so I will have updated cholesterol, liver, and thyroid function. Due to financial costs I am not checking any hormone levels. |

I go in the steam room immediately after my workout too. I don't know why really but I love too. It calms me down after a workout and I can just sit in there and relax. |

I refuse to go in there barefoot...so I have been wearing my shoes. I am afraid someone will punk me for that, and it looks kinda gay. So I plan to get a cheapo pair of flip flops....god only knows what is on the floors in those places...none the less I agree I leave there breathing really good and just feeling great in general.

Goitrogens interfere with thyroid function.

That is true. I go in their barefoot . I haven't bought flip flops yet. Yes whenever I'm sick I stay in there for even longer. Awhile ago I had bronchitis, I went in for 10 minutes, got out, then went back in 5 - 10 more minutes and snot and phlegm was just pouring out of my lungs and nose. It was epic. |

Yeah I might swing by the dollar store on the way to the gym tonight. Its been snowing here so a nice steam room would be great after my back routine...
RasPlash as for it helping your cold I can totally see that helping. I notice even not being sick that I can breath easy after leaving and just get a refreshed feeling. DO go get something for your feet. Like I said I was wearing my workout shoes but started feeling real weird standing in there wearing shoes and socks..hahaha I felt like a village person. So I have stopped going in regularly but tonight I am going to get a $1 pair of something for my feet, or even payless fake crocks. |
