pulled muscle

When I was younger I did so many bicep curls that I pulled a muscle. It would hurt every time I straightend out my arms. Now that im trying to get back into lifting weights I feel the same feeling again in my arms (just not as bad.) Can anyone tell me how to workout without pulling a muscle or is it just that im sore and if I continue to workout the soreness will go away?

I had a same kind of problem when I was young. I think injured my inner thigh muscle when I was doing split at martial art class. Since that day, everytime I kicked high, I used to feel sharp pain in that area. It took very long time to recover, but It went away eventually.
