Donating Plasma

Since I was recently laid off and am looking for supplemental income to my unemployment benefits, I've been thinking about donating plasma. We have a local BioLife Plasma Center where they pay you something like $200 to $300 a month for donating plasma twice a week. From what I have been able to gather from their website, plasma donation is different from blood donation. Plasma regenerates quicker and you can donate with as little as one day rest.

Has anyone done this here and are there any known side effects to strength or health?

Thanks as always!!

Make sure you stay very hydrated, plasma is like 90% water with proteins and such and is very important to maintaining blood pressure, transporting certain nutrients, it has its place in blood clotting etc. I wouldn't do it every other day personally. Twice a month doesn't seem too bad, but i've never learned/researched this type of stuff specifically so take my advice with a grain of salt.

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering if donating was going to mess with my protein supplementation so your info is definitely going to cause me to research this some more.

Wow. They pay for it.

I give blood - I try to get in at least once a year, sometimes I manage more - but I've never given plasma before.

Yeah, I was kind of surprised too! Check out this link, BioLife Plasma Services | Donate plasma. Receive extra money they have centers in most states, but not all. My wife and I are thinking about both going. I mean an extra $400 a month can really help us out.

Where in Indiana are you located?

I've been to the Bloomington Biolife a couple of times.

As far as what it's like - you're able to sit and do anything you can do with one arm for 1-2 hours and get paid at least $20 dollars per session.

The people who make $250 dollars a month only do so by going twice per week, every week. That's because if you go twice per week, they'll give you $20 dollars for the first time as I mentioned above and $30 dollars for the second time that week.

You also can't go on back-to-back days and weeks are Monday through Saturday - that means if you go on Saturday and then again on Tuesday of the following week, you would be given $20 dollars for each of those sessions. To get that extra $10 dollars, you need to go twice (not in consecutive days) in a Monday through Saturday period.

While it can be profitable, the reasons I disliked it were because:

A - my arm felt weak after doing it
B - thus, it hindered my workouts.
C - if I was able to work out before going, my veins were so pumped that it kind of hurt when they were punctured.

The pros are the money, the fact that I drink so much water and weigh so little that I'm in and out of there in 45 minutes (as opposed to my friend who takes 2 hours) but other than that, I'd find something else to do.

Perhaps prostitution?

Lol

I had a friend who sold fake Rolex's letting people know they were fake. He bought them for $25 at a local fleamarket and sold them for $200.00 each. He would sell 10 or so a week.

At christmas time he sold 50 in one week, but i think that was luck and a holiday.

It sounds better then donating plasma, but thats just me.

Elkhart area. They have a new plasma center out by the airport. I have an initial appointment next Thursday, so I'll let you know how it goes and if I feel weak or anything.

Donating plasma is different than donating blood. You can check out a video at BioLife Plasma Services | Donate plasma. Receive extra money. From what I have learned they take the blood out of you, just like donating blood, and a machine separates the plasma from your red and white blood cells that is then returned to your body. Your body regenerates plasma much quicker than blood and this is why you can donate plasma twice weekly. I'll know more later this week as I have my first appointment on Thursday.

Like hp said.

It's the same as giving blood, it just takes longer.

This is because you're blood is leaving your body, the machine it goes into separates the plasma from the blood, the blood goes back inside of you and the plasma goes into a milk jug type container.

An associate of mine was doing this, and he passed out randomly about two weeks into it.

Damn.. it is making me very sad to see people talking about selling their blood and plasma to support their families. I hate our leaders who play in the hands of greedy corporations to punish its citizens.

The plasma donating is going to get put on hold for me. I'm going to test Prince's new 1-Andro Rx and I do not want anything messing with results in the gym! I'll be journaling on this forum with my results.
