Mother pulled her oblique?

My mother and I were taking out a stump. She was working the shovel and I was chopping the roots out with an axe. A few days later she had/has an immense sharp pain right where her oblique is. Doctors said it isn't a hernia, kidney stone, or bladder infection. I think she pulled her oblique because it hurts like hell whenever she bends to a certain side. Are there any stretches, or anything she could do to help this heal faster? Or is bed rest the best option?

They didn't really say anything. They guessed that it was a pulled muscle.

Basically they gave her Vicodin and muscle relaxers and told her, Good Luck!

I don't envy her, shingles is horrible. Wishing her a speedy recovery!
