Just wondering, I have ww flour, oats, olive oil, etc, but no yeast, if I make a thin crust, do I need yeast?

I wish I could remember, from what I do recall from my cooking classes....yeast is nothing more than a leavening agent......I think you can use baking powder....small amount with a little cream of tartar, or baking soda with an acid

I'm not sure, but I always thought it did. Why not just buy some? It's cheap.

you don't need yeast, but what you'll end up with is a tough crust, also....don't work the dough too much or it will get tougher....with yeast you have to let it rise for a while, but with baking powder (assuming it's double acting) you can let it sit for less, and let the heat do the work...

don't forget, if you let it sit, cover it with plastic wrap so you don't get a dry surface on the dough

just so you know, cream of tartar is a powder, and if you have double acting powder, it's not neccessary, but it will rise better
