African biltong...
BODYBUILDING SUPPLEMENTS High Quality Supplements For Bodybuilders and Athletes. www.ironmaglabs.com A friend of mine who lived in Africa, brought some biltong to work for us to try.
basically, it's the cured, dried beef version of beef jerky. It is not smoked or cooked but is cured, spiced and then dried. Was it ever good! Later, I constructed my own biltong setup using a small metal smoker, simply hanging the cured, spiced beef strips on the racks inside. I used a plain bulb inside, hanging it on top over the beef and had a very small fan blowing air in from underneath. I left mine to dry in my basement for 6 days. They turned out just great. Considering that most snacks people have are of a carbohydrate in nature, if you want a higher protein snack instead, try this one. It's fun to make and tasty as well. Instructional site below... Or you can punch in ' biltong' on the net and see what you can find. http://www.markblumberg.com/biltong.html |
