Shift eating!!!!!!

Hey guys......So far on my new workout routine and diet...so to speak....I've lost 4 kilos in 4 weeks!!! My problem is this:

Im a shift worker.....I have a 04:30 start on two mornings...(one goes for a 12 hr shift the other for 5 hrs)......then I have one afternoon shift....(starts at 14:00 till around 19:00)....then it ends in either 2 or 3 nights (where I start at 21:30 till around 03:30). After this usual roster I then get 5 days off.

My problem is.....how should I eat??? Time wise that is..... do I start each "day" after I get up from my sleep whether it be middle of the day or early early morning?!! Then carry on with the 5 to 6 small meals during the rest of the so-called day???!!! Or do I only eat healthy when I can!!! I've cut out sooo much shyte and only eat when I get hungry normally on nightshift...but this normally leads to bloating!! My sugar levels seem to crash around the midnight to one o'clock line...and I find it hard not to hit the high sugar foods...or the deep fried stuff!!! Soo far soo good...I've stuck to the yoghurt and fresh fruit.

Anything would be a help....I even take my protein shakes to work with me........the others on my shift are making great comments on the weird things I eat!!! I would love to add something extra to my list!!!!

Shift work sucks, mmafiter deals w/ this daily as well. Even though it may be 4 in the afternoon when you wake up...you still just woke up after a 6-8 hr fast...and even though your going to bed when everyone else is getting up...your body is still shutting down for the "night". You should eat according to your schedule...start w/ your meal 1 and then continue w/ the rest of your meals every ~3 hrs or so.

This is something I've been meaning to ask cause I do shiftwork as well. I have 5 days of 11pm-7am. 5 days of 3pm-11pm then 5 days of early morning starts including working all weekend. Then I get the whole week off.

I've found that although the normal pattern is stuffed around you can still follow the basic rules of eating good food in smaller portions every 3 hours.

The only really bad thing is that you get less sleep than you should, especially nightshift.

The other thing is that you still have to as much as possible sort of fit in with the others around you. ie I like to have dinner with my wife so thats around 7pm. I'll have gotten up maybe at 3pm, eaten a normal breakfast (eggs, oatmeal etc), gone to gym at 4:30 pr 5pm then get home and have a Post workout shake and an hour later have dinner, just watch what I eat. I'll post again soon when I get more time.
