Wide..Femur?

This has been bothering me for a while so I figured I would get some opinions..maybe some ridicule..but anyway.

When I walk it looks like my stupid hips move kinda sideways a lot and I can't help it. I'm male by the way so I really hate it. Upon further inspection it doesn't look like I have wide hips, but that my femur is wide. Like when I put weight on one leg my "hip" sticks out a lot.

Anyway here is a diagram. img11.imageshack. us/img11/8901/hipdiagram.jpg. It wouldn't let me post a link, so you'll have to delete the spaces I put in.

So it seems like the part circled in Red is too tall, or the part circled in Blue is too long. Either way it looks stupid.
Not much I can do about it either short of taking a grinder to it, which I'm considering.

Why not try and take a picture of your posture (front, back, side, side) and a 1 leg stance (each leg). It might help more.

Does it give you any problems? Pain, especially in knees/back? Discomfort? Limited functionality? Or is it just a cosmetic/neurotic thing?

One thing that jumps to mind right away is a possible weakness in the glute med. and you might have a positive trendelenburg test/gait. Now the pictures might help but its something you really should be evaluated for in real life. Does it seem the opposite side of you pelvis is falling down when you are standing 1 legged? Or does your pelvis shift laterally to maintain its horizontal position, if that makes any sense to you. You can google trendelenburg sign and trendelenburg gait and take a look, the biggest cause from what I know is glute med. weakness and can be helped with exercise.

Do uni-lateral leg work. one leg squat variation, lunges, etc.

There is no pain or anything. When I was smaller I went to a foot doctor for flat feet and got some inserts, but that was years ago. We never really followed through from what I remember, so I probably have bad form. The reason I say my bones seem wide is because when I just stand evenly with weight on both feet, that area of my legs sticks out wider than my waist.
Thanks for the info though, I haven't had a chance but ill check it out

Well maybe you just have a long femoral neck and/or larger than normal greater trochanters. Or you might just have a narrow pelvis. We are all unique in these aspects, each of us a unique, and beautiful snowflake.
