How long do certain foods 'keep' once cooked?

Let's just say that Sunday evening you prepare the following:

4 Chicken Breasts
2 Turkey Breasts (not the sandwich meat, the real deal)
12 Hard Boiled Eggs

These are all placed in your refrigerator (not freezer) in containers with lids.

How many days would they be 'good'? I mean, would you eat these on Wednesday, or even Thursday?

I know what I do, but I wonder what other people's thoughts are. Thanks!

I'd eat them all week.

Don't know about the eggs though. I just put mine in a tupperware container everymorning and microwave them when I get to work. I don't like hard boiled eggs.

don't know about the eggs, but I make all my chicken/beef on Sat or Sunday for the entire week. I keep em in little container in da fridge.

Same here. I even do the same thing with eggs.

Food Storage Chart

thanks W8 for that list!!

Eggs
Hardcooked 1 week

Cooked Poultry
Fried chicken 3 to 4 days
Pieces, plain 3 to 4 days

Shooter, hard boiled eggs are good to have when you won't have time or access to a microwave.

Leslie, I copied and pasted the text from the chart above...do you really eat beef or chicken on Friday that you cooked on Sunday?

w8, thanks for the chart, oh goddess of the internet!

Good point Miss leDix.
BTW I cook chicken on Sunday night and eat it right through to Friday. No problems

yes miss leDix, I sometimes have chicken/meat left by Friday and I will eat it. If my BF does not go out for lunch as often, then i usually have to whip up a small batch of chicken/beef by Weds(like tonight )
But I have not gotten sick...yet

I think it's safe for a week....that chart is a guideline given out by the FDA...I think there's a couple days leeway

I use the good 'ole smell test. If there is something wrong you will know!

Posted by: seyone

the smell test will only work if food is really bad. the problem with that is the longer you keep food the longer bacteria has to reproduce, It may not smell bad yet but might be bad enough to make you sick. also If you cook your food enough you will kill much of the bacteria. For most perishable items I like to stay between 5-6 days.
