Pulled upper back muscle

I was doing squats today at the gym and i decided to wear a weight belt i usually don't i was working with 225 and i ended up feeling a sharp pain in my upper back does anyone now what could have happen and how long i need to recover and will i b out of lifting long enough to lose what i have gained. Any help/ advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Motherf-ker can hurt! Best thing to do is to take a bath in hot Epsom Salts, Aleve 2x daily (if your chemistry can handle it) and just relax it. It takes about a week for it to really open up.
Sorry, I know where it hurts as I've done that before.

I have not trained for a week now due to a muscle in my upper back that "locked up' on me, I prefer Advil over Aleve personally, had a couple of massages and just rest.

A belt won't protect your back muscles. It can only aid in spinal support.
