does it hurt when you breathe?

yup it does when i breath deep

Motherf-ker can hurt! Best thing to do is to take a bath in hot Epsom Salts, Aleve 2x daily (if your chemistry can handle it) and just relax it. It takes about a week for it to really open up.

Sorry, I know where it hurts as I've done that before.

Thanks I'll try that.

I have not trained for a week now due to a muscle in my upper back that "locked up' on me, I prefer Advil over Aleve personally, had a couple of massages and just rest.

A belt won't protect your back muscles. It can only aid in spinal support.
