This might sound real stupid or even funny. I was doing shrugs and a trainer told me to tuck my head down for a better range of motion. I did'nt see how that would change any range of motion, but i tried it any way. after i left the gym , underneath my jaw was sore. its a weird feeling, never had that before.
coincidentally, i jiujitsuing around with this jiujitsu guy, yesterday, and i was tucking my head down to protect my neck from a rear choke. it could possibly be from that too, but i didnt notice anything until after my workout. sound familiar to anyone?

Go back and ask that trainer what happens to the upper trapezius in a forward head posture....then ask him what happens to other neck muscles in a forward head posture when asked to contract during an exercise where breathing will be elevated.....then tell him he is fucking stupid...then punch him in the face. You have my permission.
