Pre-workout meal

I like to workout in the morning, but when I get up I'm not too energized from not eating for eight hours. I'm so hungry in the middle of the night that I wake up and have a protein drink. I don't like to eat heavy before a workout, so I was wondering what is a good meal/shake to have pre-workout.

I usually make a shake with vanilla whey and instant coffee and then just eat a spoonful of peanut butter.

I have a banana, 1/2 cup oatmeal, and whey blended together with water.
