I have to agree and disagree with Prince.

The hair, yes, up is good. I always wear my hair down because I feel like a dork with it up, but that's me. Rule of thumb is for the 2pc round down but off the face. For the 1pc round up and more done up. However, whatever you choose to do with it, make sure you can do it quickly. There is no guarantee you are going to have all the time in the world to primp before they're calling you back out on stage between rounds.

The makeup, you need to go heavier than you would normally for everyday makeup because the lights will wash you out. I happened to be watching the Fitness America Pageant the other evening and the commentor kept reiterating how the girls need to learn to apply their makeup heavier to compensate for the stage lighting. I've worked with several makeup artists that do makeup for the pro fitness girls and they all say the same thing--you must go heavier. That does not mean you wear colors you wouldn't normally wear or wear colors that make you look like Mimi from the Drew Carey show. You just need to apply it heavier and bolder.

Also, it is important to match your face color to your skin tone after you've got your competition tan applied. You should apply a few coats of whatever you are going to use to the inside of your arm and go to a makeup counter and ask the sales person to match that a close a possible.

Nail and toes should be a neutral color. A french manicure is best or just clear nail polish.
