Brittle Nails.......

OK, I have been taking my high potency vitamins, eating good, taking supps, etc. but I have brittle nails! I used to have very tough nails but I used to also drink milk and more fats. OK, I was on Atkins wayyy back when maybe 2 years ago, and it did wonders for my hair and nails.... Is it the fat?

What is missing? Any ideas, ladies or gents?

Maybe it's the amount of wear and tear they get and as you get older, they get more brittle?

I'm taking about 50-60 grams of fat from Udo's, safflower mayo, safflower oil, natl pb, and cream

Maybe you should use a smaller hammer!! That might stop you breaking your nails !!
I've heard of clouts Gal twist etc nails but never fat nails !!

Fat/oils can affect hair, I didn't know about nails though.

Gelatin or calcium would be what I'd say.

Minerals play and important role also. Ridges, spots and brttleness can also be signs of a mineral deficiency.

Ok, will increase fats some... how much is enuf?

I thought about gelatin too...But I don't like jello!

DP, I thought that the multivitamins covered the mineral dept? I don't have ridges or spots, just when I look at my nails, it seems like it's coming off in layers. So not that they are breaking off per se...

I get all my gelatin from caps, I don't eat jello but I like it

Umm your hair and nails are made of the same stuff (Keratin??)

Didn't know that, so far as I knew nails were bone and hair? I dunno, other than you can find out the persons diet from thier hair.
