Lawmakers urge FDA to Move Swiftly to Limit Salt in FoodsBy Lyndsey Layton, Washington Post Staff WriterTwo members of Congress urged the Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday to move quickly to limit the amount of salt in processed foods, calling the matter a “public health crisis” that demanded a swift response from government.“I understand [...]

I think the government should also limit the amount of times I can go through a mcd window in a week..maybe even tell me what percentage of my money I can spend on carbs, and maybe they can get innovative and only make clothes in S and M...
Go big government!! Why don't we just work for free and have them tell us what to do? ....oh yeah, they are working on that one already. lol

The government already tells us what we eat, CORN. Its in everything in one way or another. I hear people yapping all day wanting less government intervention into our daily lives, but I don't hear anyone making a big stink about subsidized farms(corn and soybeans).

that's because we don't know about these farms..I don't know anything about them so I can't make an intelligent comment about it. I do think the govt sticks their nose into nearly every aspect of what used to be our freedoms. The problem is, people like free shit..people are lazy, and people are jealous of one another. If they see one guy's baby mama getting paid x dollars for every child she has, where is the incentive to get a job, pay for health insurance, day care, food, etc..Answer: there is none. Why work when you can get paid to stay home better than struggling trying to work hard. The ONLY thing that keeps some people working instead of using the system is either pride or maybe they just don't know how to work the system. I certainly don't, but there are plenty that do. Our country needs to try some tough love. I've been so poor I've limited driving, what I eat, and cut ALL expenses. Every woman I see on the system still has her fake nails and hair pretty. We need a total overhaul but that is never going to happen.

it's not a terrible idea. if you eat clean and have something like tacos or whatever on cheat day after a while that cheat food can be tasted for what it is frigging shit food with LOADS of salt. sweet stuff gets equally as sickening.

I definitely learned about this. Ive always been into eating homemade meals but I still ate out a lot. This year, we vowed to not eat out(as much). For almost two months every meal was made at home, FROM SCRATCH. None of this boxed food shit, real food. We went out to a local DIVE and holy salt lick batman. Now eating at home is so much more enjoyable, and healthy.

It's just a way some legislator had a bright idea to push something through that wouldn't cause to much of a stink and it would appear that they are really doing something.

Corn is no longer corn, its everything you dont think it is. From the wax on vegetables at the super market, to new "PLASTIC" cups, to sweetener in soda. This is a bad commodity. It doesnt make money, its sold at the lowest price possible, its subsidized just so it can be planted and resold again with zero profit being made. If anyone wants to bitch and complain about a welfare system this is the first place to look, not some down and out family. These people receive checks every month yet drive $250K tractors.

The farmers are so heavily subsidised as to create a surplus of certain commodities so they can be sold around the world. Same thing occurs in the UK and much of Europe. I had to write an essay recently, relating specifically to Indonesia, which contained a lot of information about the practise.

Relatively good idea in theory, but the way in which they implement some of the schemes is a bit horrible (especially when it comes to supressing the local producers).
