Out of pure curiosity -- a zero carb bulk

I'm not considering this as a diet. I've just been reading about ketosis a lot lately and began wondering about zero carbs with the situation reversed --that is on a calorie surplus.

Benefits? Drawbacks? Easier transition to a deficit? etc...

Splurge with information and thoughts, please!

You need a calorie surplus to bulk.

I'm just curious how the body would manage if you got your required protein and then the rest of your calories were from fat.

I know it's an odd thread. It's not for any practical reasons, just interest.

Considering you need energy AND protein to build muscle, and that energy doesn't necessarily have to come from carbohydrate...yeah i guess it would be possible.

When you say "no carb" do you literally mean no carbohydrates AT ALL? That means no veggies, no fruit, hell even nuts have some carbs in them, lol. In that case i think you would struggle to get enough energy full stop.

I'm doing low-carb right now and most of my diet is fruit, vegetables, and nuts.

The other problem with this low/no carb bulking idea would be physically eating that much food. Carbs are great because - at least for me - i can eat and eat and eat carbs all day long and not get full. The calories are still going in, but i wont stop eating.

On this high protein/low carb diet right now, i'm struggling to finish meals simply because theres so much damned meat and fibre in them.

I think it IS possible, but might not be DO-ABLE for some people.

As a side note, deciding to cut for the second time ever in my life, around the time of my final exams, was a completely stupid idea.

Still. -6lbs in a week, motherfuckers! Goodbye water retention!

For some reason, that name hasn't caught on as well.

It's been almost 2 years since I started BBing and I just can't bring myself to cut. Not satisfied yet. And, there are so many program ideas I have! I just don't want to stop. It would be nice to lean down for a while but at the same time there's something so unsettling about the fact that while cutting I KNOW there's no potential for growth and that strength increases, while possible, aren't as likely.

I know what you mean, i've only cut twice and even then i didn't take it to anything below 10%. When i bulk too long i start to get fatter than i'd like, so i cut to get back to baseline, not to get "ripped". Just want to get stronger.

Not really interested in the six-pack abs thing. My fat distribution is great though, its all on my stomach and legs so everywhere else looks great lol
