Usually, I buy Orowheat whole wheat bread at Costco, but today I decided to try a different brand. I must have stood in the bread section of the grocery store for half an hour comparing the nutritional values and ingredient lists of all the wheat breads.

I ended up buying one with the following values and ingredients:

1 slice (31g)

Cal - 90g
Fat - 2g
Carb - 15g
Fibre - 3g
Sugar - 1g

Enriched wheat flour, brown sugar, carmel coloring, margarine..

The other wheat breads had about one gram of fibre and a lot of sugar, I've always read to buy bread with at least 2 gram or more of fibre.

I'm sure someone here has solid information on what to look for in buying wheat bread, also which wheat breads do you like?

Bread sucks in general....butt IF, and that's a big if, I were to eat it....I'd go w/ a whole grain ...such as Dempsters Stone Ground or Flax....Dempster's uses whole grain wheat and not enriched...Anything that has "enriched wheat flour" is shit....and they almost all do.

Ezikial (sp?) bread is a wheatless, flourless, sugarless and a lot of -less bread and would be a good choice as well...however, it does not 'taste' like regular bread...it takes some getting used to...awesome w/ peanut butter though

And another option is the deep dark rye breads from germany...they do not have wheat flour either.

All the wheat bread ingredients that I read contained enriched wheat flour and some sort of sweetener. Of course just like everything else the "healthy" bread will probably taste like shit, LOL.

1....there's no such thing as "healthy" bread

2....the dempster's tastes like normal bread, but would be my third choice of bread

w8; is bread really that bad? Not even a tuna or turkey sandwich for bulking? Then again, those are pretty big numbers in the nutritional values for just one slice...

Doesn't anyone else have any say on the subject? I'm sure there's a lot of you who go to Subway / Deli for a sandwich, what do you think?

That's fuking funny

Yes...bread is that bad...but won't kill you on a bulk I guess...depends on your goals and what's important to you, not to mention how well you can control your carb cravings.

And I wouldn't think very many people here go to subway or a deli for a sandwich...most of them know bread sucks

I like bread, I eat four pieces (2 tuna sandwiches) of whole wheat nut bread every day. (I cannot remember the brand, but it's expensive)
