Would you be for Tax funded sterilization? Not for the wealthy of course but for the people on welfare and working poor.

This is a huge issue, and it will be very controversial.

My opinion, while I do feel as if some people shouldn't be able to procreate, I don't feel as if anyone should be the one to lay that restriction on them. So many people have the mindset of: why the hell would I bring a child into this shit world. And those who don't care and breed like bunnies are overpopulating.

Wealth should be the furthest thing from determining who is eligible for something such as this. There are a lot of smart people who don't care about wealth, and there are the same amount of people who are richer beyond anything, who are dumbasses. Just because someone didn't have daddy pay their way through college/university, or inherit millions of dollars, doesn't mean they should be prevented from going about their life like everyone else.

We are all human, no one is superior over another.. at least we shouldn't be. Sadly, there are many who do feel as though they are superior, which is something I will never completely understand.

<commence the picking apart and flaming of my response>

as long as it's not forced, certainly.

Posted by: lnvanry

yes, but for everyone.....it will certainly save the state more money in the long run (possibly the short term as well). Its a bit ridiculous that insurance doesn't cover birth control, which only costs app $25 a month. Its was cheaper than a $10,000 birthing cost accompanied with unforeseen health costs for the child as he/she grows up.

I"m sure you get could big pharma to lobby for this one too.

i agree. if poor people weren't allowed to have babies some of the worlds finest people would never have existed.

To the posts above, wealth isn't the determining factor. Being a pathetic failure and a drain on the resources is the determining factor. It just so happens that most of the people on welfare fall into this category.

I would go another step and say that each family is allowed to have only two kids. If a man has conceived two living people he has a mandatory vasectomy. If a woman has given birth to two living people she has a mandatory tubal ligation.

Only healthy productive members of society should be allowed to breed. This reverse Darwinism shit needs to end. We are headed for another dark age.

The father is sick with sniffles, the mother has TB. They have 4 children. The first is blind, the second is dead. The third is deaf and the fourth has TB. The mother finds she is pregnant again. Given the extreme situation, would you recommend abortion?

you would have killed Beethoven.

Oh man, I probably didn't understand the question as it was meant.

I am Canadian, so this sort of thing is a non-issue as it is covered by provincial health plans. Obviously voluntarily, I would agree that it should be funded by the government, for anyone who chooses (even the wealthy).

Posted by: Little Wing

my statement about beethoven was completely false btw. but it makes one think.

i think often it's a struggle for those who are considered well able to afford their own health care to afford it in reality so that's a good idea. i've seen a few guys on here ask questions when they needed to see a dr n didn't want to go because of the cost and one give up a medication he really needed due to the cost.

I'd be okay with a federally funded plan to pay for sterilization for anyone that asks.

It should never, ever be forced on someone. The government should never be able to go anywhere near that sort of power. Ever.

I would gladly have performed the abortion myself! If it means we can reduce poverty and ignorance, then losing a few scientist and composers is worth the cost. Working at a critical access hospital has opened my eyes. You guys have no idea how much money is flushed down the drain providing heath care to people on medicare and medicaid. It is obscene!

Now, I'm not completely heartless. I think we are doing the right thing helping those who can't seem to help themselves, but continuing the cycle is dumb. These people obviously can't be trusted with to not be a burden and create future generations of burdens on society. They lower the collective consciousness.

Who determins what is the criteria for "healthy productive"? What do you say about someone like Stephen Hawking? He's not exactly the healthiest specimen of human being but he's not exactly a mental wasteland either. A comparable question came up on the radio the other day - Dick Cheney, former US Vice Pres, very recently had a pump put on his heart as a bridging therapy until he can get a heart transplant. He's 69 yrs old so on the outer edge of the criteria for those who "qualify" for a viable and healthy transplant. He's had 5 heart attacks. He's a very wealthy person, former VP. Some people think he's a piece of shit who never should've been born. Some respect him for what he's accomplished in his life. Do you think he's going to get equal treatment w/ those already on the list for a heart transplant or is he going to get moved up the list because of who he is? Does who he is, justify giving him a chance, over others, to continue to live?

They should offer a monetary reward, Nascar and Wrastlin tickets, and a pair of fuzzy dice to any man who volunteers for a vasectomy....
For women manicure coupons, free weave service for one year and the latest and greatest in pink phones encased in rhinestones.....

Well back then and up through 1900 any child who lived past the age of 1 year old was considered having a slightly decent chance of reaching adulthood.... Did you know the Hawaiians didn't name their baby until after it's first birthday so that they wouldn't have a name to remember when it died.....

Stephen Hawking is still contributing to society in the form of knowledge. On top of that, his DNA is priceless. Damn shame is illness is genetic. They should take his DNA and try to preserve it until they have a cure for ALS. Then women could use his DNA to make tons of little Hawking geniuses.

Dick Chaney has taken infinitely more from society than a welfare mother ever could. But that's my opinion. The facts are that he is an accomplished man and public servant. He will not get equal treatment most likely. I am sure that evil prick has a few tricks up his sleeve to get a new ticker.

I am indeed blown away, but must add that many of those that have a business as well the corporate world, make and break many of us with taxation, as well dictate our current salaries and economic situations.

So, in the long run...why not have it available. Heck, we pay for partial abortions

what's a 'partial' abortion???

I'm so sorry for the late response, Many of the plan parenthoods and other state assisted medical or clinics dealing with births and low costs health care, especially with pregnancy issues are granted funds for abortion. This is the donation by the Tax payers to prevent more funding for welfare, that many have and had asked for "Reform".

Many of which is done by and with the politicians that are visitors for the Catholic church...at least here in CA. Sorry, to be so non exact with "Partial" I meant to say Partial Payment.

Off the subject, but felt this could be another issue for public knowledge with taxes:

I feel those that have STD that can kill, should be on a list that people can then access, so the less of the disease is spread, and we have less chance of getting it and dying young.

This is a damn good point. I think everyone who fucks someone without telling them they have an STD should serve time and should owe money damages to the person they infected. That shit is fucked up, and people do it all of the time.

If a woman knowingly gave me aids without telling me she was infected, I would have to kill her.

Amen she would die slow real slow....eaten by ants ...or

Posted by: The Monkey Man

Sort-of...

I think welfare recipients should receive free birth control deducted from their welfare check...

But if they fail to take said birth control and become illegitimate parents...
they should be forced to pay legal fees and and taxes on the costs of acquiring a birth certificate...

The outside here is if you shun the system your baby will be given to a loving adoptive gay couple, and your welfare privilege revoked.

The ultimate "suggestion" being... If you choose to try to live in a socialist society where the GOVT supports
you and your family, you will ultimately fail and be unhappy.

Posted by: The Monkey Man

Isn't that what were trying to avoid?

A GOVT that controls over 50% of the jobs?
And the people are dependant upon the US to support themselves?

I dont want new GOVT jobs.... I want new JOBS!

Fact of the matter easily here is:
GOVT is moving towards socialism...
Free health care.
Unlimited unemployment.
Outsourcing manufacturing.
Major funds posted into free energy (which GOVT can then regulate)

All they need to do is start handing out GOVT "Medals" of achievement,
for corporate jobs well done, instead of letting the
inventors reap his/or/her actual financial reward and growth.

Posted by: The Monkey Man

I'd like to point out the particular trick
with the CENSUS, where the GOVT created "16,000+" jobs..

Meanwhile... The Census is over. (or mostly)
So all those nice folks who used to make something for a living
can now join the ranks of the unemployed.

Meanwhile, the people that worked the census actually were paid
by the people who had jobs.

But, it's OK because now they have unlimited unemployment.

But Nationally... The numbers look good, because unemployment
was down during the 3mos that everyone had a job

Posted by: KelJu

Yeah I couldn't figure out why Census workers are even included in the discussion about unemployment.

But, you are wrong in your assumption that census workers will collect unlimited unemployment. In fact, the ones who didn't have a job before working as census workers will collect nothing. Also, your benefits are determined by what you paid in the previous fiscal quarter, so working as a census worker has no affect at all on their current unemployment benefits.
