some people have physiologies that are best suited for endurance. his body is probably able to regenerate ATP very rapidly and buffer lactic acid at very high amounts.

it looks like 135, i dont think now i could do it. thats a burn and a half. its not the weight its the reps. thats impressive to me. very strict to as much as i watched he was great form.

no popped collars and motorcycles, but whats wrong with loud cars, i got 2 of em!

I love loud motorcycles. American made motorcycles. Wouldn't mind a new Challenger or Camaro, either.

Posted by: jmorrison

I have 3 loud American motorcycles. And I only pop my collar on Tuesdays.

What's the point?

104 reps? wow..how can that person do 104 reps in a row without getting bored? I get bored even doing more than 15 reps of anything.

Posted by: fufu

Very impressive stuff, that takes guts.

What's the point of Olympic lifting, power lifting or any kind of lifting? I'm assuming he wanted to challenge himself.

Did no one notice his legs? They look like sticks. I would imagine it has something to do with his training methods.

Yeah he is a skinny bastard for sure.

Posted by: Gazhole

Great work if that's what you're training for.

I'm not.

for sure he start from maybe 10 or 15

i know a kid make 200 push abs ..

i think it is ok if he was train from little to more that is good

I am not so sure about this form. The backs of his heels at time tends to come up and his knees start pointing inward. It has to be some magazine crap. I read years ago that there was a bicep workout that lasted 11hours and would guarantee 1" on your arms. Yea, I am sure someone tried that too.

Not knowing the context of "why", just for what its worth, his form is decent and its cool he can do it.

I trained w/ one guy back in the early 90s (he was an Olympic level sprinter from somewhere in the Caribbean) who had me doing 4 sets of 200 reps on the leg press, w/ no weight on the sled. It certainly kicked my ass and took a while to get conditioned for it. Generally I find for legs I need to do reps in the range of 10+ to feel like I'm getting something out of it. 20+ to really feel like I'm working. This counts for reasonably high weights to - e.g. 285 lb box squats - takes me a couple reps to find a good placing for my feet and a couple more to get the groove (tweaky knees) , so right there I'm at 5-6 reps just getting into it. Last leg day I did a couple warm up sets (135 lb tends to be my good warmup weight for all the std lifts) and 4 sets of 275/9 (10th rep I always seemed to poop out, and no spotter so didn't get too far ahead of myself.)

i dont understand the question... legit or stupid.. whats wrong with a guy doing that many reps? maybe its a compitition and he wanted to win.. maybe the guy constantly does 5 sets of 5 and someone came up with whoever does the most reps with x amount of weight wind $100.00.
steve reeves use to train 1/2 his bodyweight for 15 minutes on leg presses. if he weighted 250 he put on 125, but did the leg press non stop for15 minutes. he was a smart man that knew what he was doing. lots of different ways to train. nothing is in stone.
i was just sitting outside recovering from a workout reading an old magazine and in there arnold said he never trained to failure.. then in another article, arnold says at certain times of the year he would train to failure.
nothing in stone.

Yah, but why doesn't this kid put that balls to the wall effort in to a heavier set. I all I see in that video is someone putting in a whole lot of effort for pretty much no return. I understand using 50-100 reps for calfs, but for squats that's just counter-productive and dangerous.

Depends on how you look at it, we don't know what he is trying to accomplish by training like that, so we don't know if there is "no return" for his effort.

I'll tell you one thing, training like that increasing your mental toughness. In a sport like weight lifting, mental strength is just as important as physical.

exactly!!!

maybe there was 10 grand on the line for the winner.. we dont know...

look at the big college football players trying to get in the nfl. those dudes always lift heavy, but the one time they have to pump out as many reps as possible is when they do the nfl testing..
